I wonder what happened to all those amazing ground improvements at Craven Park that were trumpeted on that thread?

i feel like if we knocked down the steelworks end and build a half decent stand in there with boxes etc for hospitality then our ground would be/look half decent

that end looks awful, almost embarrassing on TV. its served its purpose, of course it has but if we were looking to do something, that end would be high on my list, but im guessing thats a big 'if'

That was the plan under the doomed NHS proposal which was mooted during the Keen era. A concept plan for it even appeared in a club yearbook produced at that time. So the experts are with you there as a potential way to go. It would be a fantastic thing to see and you never know with our current owners - they are full of surprises and always deliver.

Keep the standing terrace on the popular side and build above it for seats ,corporate and media.
Then rebuild the steel works end as big as possible for away fans to cash in on big gates in league 1. Away bar facilities beneath it.

I maybe wrong but I think during the late 1960’s a plan was drawn up where the Pop Side had a Grandstand running alongside its whole length. We were of course at the top end of the Third Division ( League 1 as it’s now known) at the time.

Another point whatever happened to Paul Casson’s plans for Holker Street’s redevelopment ? Didn’t he talk about running a competition with supporters voting for their best choice. He was always talking about how Holker Street had a lot of area surrounding it and if you could find the funds it was possible to expand the stadium.

There would be a lot of space I suppose created from HS end and steelworks end which could be utilized well.
Whatever way it's done/if it's done will cause big headaches and will need very deep pockets!
Even making way for the temporary stands (which look fantastic) took a monumental effort and to some degree is still ongoing with work from the volunteers.

The temporary stands have been made semi permanent by the addition of the cladding. I think this was a requirement to release EFL funding. They satisfied a need to have 2000 covered seats for EFL membership and they do enhance the look of the ground but let’s not kid ourselves they provide some of the most obstructed views in the ground.

As mentioned previously I think any ground share muted in the past has gone beyond its sell by date and can see little value in it although I have been in favour it of it in the past.
That’s not to say we would all love further developments at HS and a good unobstructed view stand at the Steelworks End housing all the hospitality would be great. Just need a spare £5-6m - I keep putting the numbers on every Friday night

To make that happen the club would need to temporarily house everything that is managed out of the Crossbar building, which is pretty much everything on match day and during the week. No easy task

Just stick with what we have ground Capacity is sufficient for gates we get let's worry about it when we reach the Championship.

As much as we might like to see a change there, your regular reminder that everything that is accommodated at the The Steelworks End would need to be rehoused in order for the club to function as at present before that end is redeveloped.

The most likely location would be in a new construction (a main stand) replacing the complete Ray Wilkie Stand side from Holker Street to the mobile phone mast. Perhaps c£20 million for that? A development partner would be something of a 'must have', I suspect.

Then attention might turn to the Steelworks End.

I think part of the NHS plan was to evict/relocate Furness Rovers and build a Portacabin city to accommodate both construction and AFC requirements temporarily. It was said that ASDA owned the land and were on-board with the proposals at the time.
