Not good enough
Re: Not good enough
Had a nosy at the Carlisle qna with the owners tonight, bit like something off Netflix, the American owner was talking for nearly 10 minutes “it’s a twenny four - seven, operation to keep this club up”. Safe to say they have a much higher budget than us but it doesn’t always mean a better team that clicks. I don’t think Stevenage had a huge budget when they went up.

Re: Not good enough
Interesting to see how many teams in our league have big FA cup 3rd round away ties this weekend (Accrington, Morecambe, Salford, Bromley, Harrogate and to a lesser extent Doncaster) so they will all have a big income boost for signings in this window. Our Chelsea money will be up against this.

Re: Not good enough
Carlisle need to get 10 more points than we manage to get above us that's a big ask
I do think we have some really good players my concern is that does the management know how to get the best from them and can they turn the form around
There is nothing to fear in league 2

Re: Not good enough
I agree on Morecambe, they’ve a chance; but massively disagree on Carlisle, they’ll be fine imho, spending a fortune already and still want another 4/5 new playersbluessupporter wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:20 pm It’s a gamble.
I think Carlisle have gone, but not sure about Morecambe. They might climb clear.
The Board may be forced to change its mind after the next four games.

Re: Not good enough
They spent big last Jan too that didn’t save them. Their wage bill must be eye watering squad of 40 odd. Most on 2 3 year deals too. Their recruitment is shambolic

Re: Not good enough
If we get our act together we will be fine but everyone knows the consequences if we don't, very hard to predict what points will be needed to reach safety but we massively need to start winning games draws won't be enough.
Re: Not good enough
You’re right about the draws. This team and Clemence need to start winning games more often.
At this point of the season we are sruggling to see where the side has improved from last season if anywhere.

It’s not good enough for you, it’s not good enough for me.
A few wins under our belt is what supporters need to see……
Looking Dodgy

Re: Not good enough
Bingo….. we have’nt got any good players, aside for Cavanan.Clemence does not know how to get a tune out of them anyway. This lot won’t survive the National league next season.

Re: Not good enough
Seriously don’t understand this thinking. The majority of this squad missed out on the playoffs by a point last season… but now they won’t survive the league below?
Please explain
Life is always better when it's better
Re: Not good enough
Don’t think they care if they survive or not. Many will move on, or be moved on, once Clemence has gone.

Re: Not good enough
I'm not quite sure that is right, no players would have that attitude and risk their own stock value!
There may be one or two that don't pull their pan out but that goes for a lot of teams right up and down the football pyramid.
Who would pay good money for players if they thought or looked like they were purposely being lazy or uninterested. It's not in their own interest..
Some rotten luck, late mistakes and lack of goals scored is our issue! We still have a top half of not top 6 defensive record so far, conceding little for the position we are in.
If only we had a Cole Stockton/Andy cook/ Colin copwerthwaite type player we would be top 6 for sure, i.e someone who puts a shift in and gets the goals!
There is a lot of doom and gloom and understandably but are we really as bad as some are making out? I don't think we are and with luck, players staying fit and a couple of new faces, we will be ok.
Re: Not good enough
“ are we really that bad,”yes my friend we certainly are, as for buying them in the first place, well you can’t know how they will perform until they have the shirt on. What they practice all week is beyond me.
