Not true. We do have some good players. Just watch which teams snap up Spence and Campbell when their contracts end. I'll bet both of them will move to teams in EFL 1 or teams going for promotion in EFL 2. Unfortunately, we also have quite a few really bad players!

Nige FFS, again what are you saying,”relegation could finish the club” think before you post mate. If we got relegated we would just deal with it, like other clubs have to.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:33 pm We have to spend because what we'll lose if we get relegated!, no fa cup 1st round no league cup, no football league trophy no Premier league/ Sky payments, reduced away support sponsors might pull out ,yes we get parachute payments but they'll not cover these amounts!
I'm sure Paul Hornby knows the figures I honestly think relegation could finish the club if we don't get outside financial support from wherever!

As Bingo points out we have no structure to finance the club, We cannot expect the directors to keep bailing the club out ,
Everything I've wrote is true, just for once take a step back and use your brain !Attendances would be down travel costs etc would escalate, Paul Hornby has stated numerous times about the costs of the National League without any real financial support, minimal payments from the pyramid.
Other clubs deal with it do they? Most are at the very least thousands of pounds in debt! but the majority have stadiums that are not only better than ours but generate money.
Stop being a smart arse and attention seeker, and explain in detail WHY I'm wrong!

Re: Not good enough
It wouldn't finish the club far from it. Would we get back into the football league? We be a tough ask and unlikely. Would we go the way of the likes of Kidderminster and dagenham and Redbridge two former league clubs that a probability but finis the club it would not. We came back from worse after we were chucked out of the league in the 70s and we would carry on in some shape or form .blue nige wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:32 amDes you really are one obnoxious person who needs a reality check !Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:13 am

That it would not be. I prefer the explanation I gave in my previous post
Re: Not good enough
This is a point that is not discussed. The current ownership has backed the club financially and every manager has been backed in the windows. There is no doubt we are different club from when the owners took the reins from Casson. However I really think if we went down a step progression of the club would fall off a cliff.blue nige wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:32 amDes you really are one obnoxious person who needs a reality check !Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:13 am

I really think the potential for this club is a lot bigger but it always feels like we sit on a cliff edge due to the reliance on first team fortunes and maintaining our EFL status

I would rather be in our position with the owners we have who perhaps are not the wealthiest in terms of money but are extremely valuable with experience and by that I don't necessarily mean football, in other words, I feel we are in safe hands.
Looking back over my years supporting Barrow, I still have to pinch myself sometimes to see where we are now compared to where we were early 80s.
The results have been grim for sure recently but I do believe we will turn a corner, maybe not promotion play off places but to be honest, a top half finish would be another great achievement!!
I think after the last two seasons, people's expectations have exceeded reality and though playoffs is not impossible, it's still a monumental ask for any club!
Just look up the road toward the big spending club that's supposed to be "owning the North".. much prefer our position than theirs and it could end up that we put a nail in their league status coffin...
Let's do what we know we can do and that's make our home a hellish place to visit, let's vent our anger in a way that makes home a volatile nasty place that the ref will not want to give a decision against us, a place where opposition dreads coming to and if we can reinstate "fortress holler at" and get the wins at home and get the odd result away then all will be good! As part of the overall Barrow team, we too have a responsibility to and that's to get right behind the lads and to be a complete and utter pain in the arse for travelling support, teams and officials!
Re: Not good enough
I agree with what you are saying to an extent and yes but with due respect I think you have missed the point I’m trying to make. Without additional investment getting on board or without tripling our current revenue streams I don’t see how the club can take the next steps - and I’m not talking about promotion.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:53 pmUnfortunately football is completely governed by money and lots of it!!Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:39 pm

Next fans open meeting the vision / plan for the whole structure of the footballing side of the club needs to be discussed.
Probably the wrong thread to put this on. It’s a different discussion to the opening post and theme of the thread

Re: Not good enough
If we can reinstate fortress Holker Street, since our return to the EFL we have played 104 home league games Winning 40 Drawing 32 & 32 Defeats hardly a fortress wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:53 pmUnfortunately football is completely governed by money and lots of it!!Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:39 pm

Re: Not good enough
Yep, I've been attending for a fair bit and rarely felt it was Fortress Holker St. More like the SOft Touch Stadium of late. Many times in the past I've gone because l felt l had to, not because l wanted to. I'm not at that point yet this season because mid--table would suit me fine but there is not much currently to get enthusiastic about with this set up.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
