Who ever takes over just needs the support to be behind them. Always going to be fans saying "shite at last place" etc but any fantastic manager goes up the pyramid and not often with the same club so we get whos available and willing to come here. For me its survival this season, get points on the board ! Anything above 10th is a bonus

The question is do we want ( as a club) quick fix or someone we want to make us into a solid league 2 team, no fanciful ideas about promotion etc, this is being realistic ,let's slowly get things right might take 5 years to get promotion but I'd rather have that then the stress of this and the first 2 seasons, no projects, no manager without any sort of background, we've been burnt by Dunn/ Clemence both decent footballers but no management experience!
We keep getting told we know where we want to be. Yeah I'd love to be in league 1 but this is a dream that with our present infrastructure isn't viable and infact could massively back fire !
Let's hope we get the appointment right and have some stability we all need it !

Hurst was interviewed for the job when we appointed Michael Jolly. Subsequently was appointed Grimsby manager a few weeks later.
He wouldn’t be a bad appointment imo

If he couldn’t get the job over Jolly then that answers a lot of questions!

Presumably he is available, knows the EFL, saved Shrewsbury from EFL1 relegation a few years ago, so could be a good 'firefighting' appointment until the summer.

Totally agree with point above (Blue Nige) about stabilising in this league for a few seasons. Slow build and a play-off/promotion run when we’re ready. There are bigger, better and wealthier teams than us who’ve been in L2 a lot longer. We are not a club ready for L1 yet, and rather than flirt with the play-offs one seasons and with relegation the next, we just need to consolidate our L2 status for now and find a manager who can help us do that.

That’s one thing football doesn’t do stabilising, we have to take what the football gifts the football gods offer and enjoy while we can (last couple of seasons). Even with the budget and infrastructure there are no guarantees (Carlisle). The variables are incomprehensible to say the least. From our perspective bit like Harrogate surviving league two is success.

The one good stable thing we’ve got is our owners and long may that continue. They more so than us have had a horrible time overseeing our fortunes demise. All we can do is get right behind them, fill HS and help to turn things around:

The usual rubbish being spouted ,like on every other club forum at this level.Whoever the board pick,won’t be liked by 75% on here,they will criticise his past and be on his back after every game here. Just give the new manager your backing,and support the decision and the club,going forward. Remember where we’ve come from,and just appreciate being in the EFL, cos once it’s gone,it will be gone for good.
