Next Head Coach?

The next guy will have ALL the same problems as the last one. Working with someone else's choices of player. Under the current system I'm not sure we'll get anyone of note. In my personal opinion having a 'Head Coach' trying to turn other peoples players into a team doesn't work at our lowly level.

Unless something radically changes we are headed down the table and praying for 2 worse teams. Which is a bit ironic as pretty much everyone beneath us has been gifted 3 points by us!

The question is do we want ( as a club) quick fix or someone we want to make us into a solid league 2 team, no fanciful ideas about promotion etc, this is being realistic ,let's slowly get things right might take 5 years to get promotion but I'd rather have that then the stress of this and the first 2 seasons, no projects, no manager without any sort of background, we've been burnt by Dunn/ Clemence both decent footballers but no management experience!
We keep getting told we know where we want to be. Yeah I'd love to be in league 1 but this is a dream that with our present infrastructure isn't viable and infact could massively back fire !
Let's hope we get the appointment right and have some stability we all need it !

Absolutely agree nige, I feel like we had stability with wild though and don’t get me wrong his form at the end of last season was very poor and realistically we should of had a play off place, but imo wild’s departure was all to do with Iain woods input and shot calling he didn’t want a manager making decisions he wanted to be the main shot caller and as a ex agent how does that give him the credentials to do that? IMO if we had of kept wild we would have had stability in this league quite easily very frustrating situation for all barrow fans at the moment.

Let's face it, it's all speculation. Did Wild instigate the NDA? We don't know. Did he leave because of the Manager/Sporting Director arrangement? We don't know. What we do know is that the latter part of each of his 2 seasons was awful.
The number of suggestions on here for Clemence's replacement - and he had to go - show just how difficult it is to make the right decision. I'm certainly glad it's not me that has to make it. Sometimes clubs get it right, often they don't; it usually comes down to that certain something where the chemistry just clicks. If a club with the resources of, say, a Man U. can get it wrong so often it shows we're not the only ones. In the meantime, the squad of fairly decent players we've got needs to pull their collective finger out.

IMHO Which is often wrong, Id prefer the slow & steady progress on the pitch to really cement our place as a L2 club & a much faster redevelopment of facilities, Better facilities that produce more match day revenue & make the place all round better & have a proactive promotions type person to built up our fan base, If we can attract 3500/4k Home fans it would be a big improvement in finance & make us stronger foundations wise for a future promotion push.

Hope the BOD snag the best candidate possible or get super lucky with this appointment.

Well said, his latter half of his 2nd season was relegation form, but now we’re in this situation and nostalgia kicks in. We are where we are now and just have to ride it , as Wild and his moans about the A590 ain’t coming back anytime soon.

So I’m back after a spell “offline” and obviously still following and attending games when I’m in Barrow.

So the season that started with so much promise has fallen away; I was at Stamford Bridge with a work colleague and couldn’t have been prouder that day but now we’re looking at another new manager.

In my view SC sacking was inevitable - it just wasn’t working but my surprise is compounded by the vitriol aimed at Iain Wood, I wasn’t that long ago I was criticised on here for an innocuous comment about his dress sense (no issue with criticism is par of the course) he was well liked and lauded as our best most important signing; now he’s forum enemy No2 after Clemence.

How times have changed.

New Manager? Not sure; someone experienced is needed to get us through to the end of the season and reevaluate then.
I don’t think a couple of rookies are the answer at this stage we need a steady hand at the tiller.
A league 2 Tony Mowbray type would be amazing.

Agreed. Some of the stuff aimed at him has been unwarranted and unpleasant. Most has come after he became CEO with the implication that he used the Carlisle rumour to get a promotion. It was press and media talk and I don't believe for a moment that any of it was fostered by Wood, or that the Board would have been panicked into giving him the job.
