spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 11:36 am In the whole of my life I’ve never known anything, anyone or any situation that have a group of people that change their minds at a drop of a hat.

Four months ago people were singing SCs name* from the tiers at Stamford Bridge. Fast forward….you’d think he’d murdered someone’s Nannie’s pet poodle.

Four months ago, massive panic about IW being poached by Carlisle. Fast forward…..he’s at fault for everything from the players we have to the manager we HAD to the lager being a bit warm.

Fourteen months ago PW was the best manager outside of the Premier League. Fast forward to last Mar/April and his tactics are shite, he has no plan B, his substitutions don’t make sense and the football is absolutely awful to watch and he’s totally at fault for us missing out on a playoff place. Now (unbelievably) people think it was a mistake getting shot of him!

Years ago Paul Cox’s style of football was terrible, attendances dropped off, or at best stagnated because people didn’t want to watch what was on offer. Fast forward…..people are mentioning his name again as a possible replace for SC.

*that’s not me defending SC or saying he shouldn’t have gone but just pointing out how fickle football supporters are.

I don’t envy the owners one bit trying to pick the next sacrificial lamb.
Unfortunately Ian that’s the nature of the beast, it’s a living dynamic and that’s why we love it.

The only stable aspect of football is its instability that’s why we enjoy it while we can cos we never know what’s round the corner not forgetting (we are Barrow).

Forget planning it just doesn’t work in footy that’s why sometimes rags tags and bobtails win leagues just like we did with Evo then we shit ourselves for being where we are we had no right to be.

It’s a long way back and it’ll take a long time no doubt but one thing you can bet on is change. Do crap we change, do well someone nicks your best players and gaffer so it’s change again. You’re only as good as your last game.

All the best to the new gaffer let’s hope he’s better than the last one or we’ll change again oh no.

I remain amazed at those who think we didn't deserve promotion in 2020 after the range of stellar performances in January and February. Notts County away was the most complete Barrow performance in decades and other games weren't far off.

Harrogate might have caught us is one argument the naysayers sometimes come up with. Equally, we might have romped to a ten+ point margin at the top by the end of the terminated season.
