Re: Barrow v Doncaster Rovers, match thread
Didn’t really think there was much that much between the teams for the majority of the game personally but the difference was we gifted them 2 (arguably 3 as Tiensa didn’t need to head the last one behind for a corner) goals and at the other end they defended well in the main albeit against a minimal threat. Been discussed plenty already but Jackson’s delivery’s were shocking, Cowps knows what’s happened to them since the start of the season. Duru found it tougher against fast technical opponents, he’s always going to look good when we are on the front foot but struggled when out and out defending was needed. Said this before and I’ve always defended him in the past but really do think it’s time Stanway was given a run of games, Farman has had a poor season really by his standards. Also sadly looks like the Notts County fans were right about Cameron, if we are going to play 3 at the back for the rest of the season you’d surely have to be tempted to get someone in to replace him and just use him as a squad player. A point tonight would have been a huge bonus against a good side but it’s a shame we cost ourselves the game really with some moments of sloppy defending; must not lose game Saturday now

Re: Barrow v Doncaster Rovers, match thread
Firstly Doncaster are a good side, The goals ffs unbelievable Cameron is absolutely crap
, Williams is he any better than Campbell???.
Formation 3 at the back what's the point of this when we had both wingbacks too far back and Williams too deep ,it was obvious to everyone apart from the manager this wasn't working!
Someone said why take Smith off probably because he was feeding off scraps and our wingbacks were really poor tonight so nothing was being given for our forwards ( all 2 of them).
We didn't know whether to press or sit back there was a total disconnect between the Midfield and the defence, it was a shambles at times, Farman how many more errors?
Really disappointing tonight!

Poor sides will win the odd game, in the last 20 league games we have won 3 we are definitely in a relegation battle, hopefully we have the squad for that fight.

2 very poor goals conceded in the 1st half. Thought we were in the game for most of the 2nd half until the 3rd goal killed the game off. Came up against a good inform team and we were into our 2nd game under a new manager and new signings so probably played them at the wrong time. Definitely a must win match on Saturday or a relegation fight is on the cards.

Seriously Mark, we’ve lost & we’ve lost to a far better team (who were my pre-season favourites for promotion) but stupid comments like that are….basically stupid. Why?McMark wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:49 pmNow now don’t let frustration get the better of youspirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:43 pm

Re: Barrow v Doncaster Rovers, match thread
Barrow sit in 18th place tonight, 10 points above the drop zone, after a 3-1 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers. Rovers punished our defensive frailties, with two goals in two mad first half minutes. Despite our having some good periods of play and never capitulating, we only managed one reply though a corner in the dying seconds of the first half. Rovers clever corner in the 78th minute sealed the points for the visitors.
We were up against a buoyant side now in second place (who have gained 13 points out of their last 18) and their quality showed tonight.
Until we let in those two quick goals just before the half-hour we had looked the most lively team, with Doncaster’s Clifton and Crew being booked in the first 10 minutes. However, just before Clifton fouled Duru in the 4th minute, Molyneux was brought down in the area by Farman, having been put through on goal by Ennis. However, the referee and Barrow fans judged that Farman got to the ball first.
We then won the first corner in the 10th minute. From Gotts’ corner kick, Spence had a shot blocked for another corner which was punched away.
Two further Barrow corners followed to no avail, and Ennis went down for treatment in the 24th minute.
This three-minute stoppage seemed to make us lose attention and Bailey was fouled by MJ Williams for a free kick. This was initially cleared, but a ball forward by Molyneux was volleyed into the net by Olowu.
Disappointing to concede but far worse was to come. Seconds after the restart, Rovers scored again, with Molyneux capitalising on a Cameron error. The 28th and 29th minute goals gave us a mountain to climb.
We didn’t give in however, and within seconds Acquah had a shot from the edge of the area saved by Sharman-Lowe.
In the 39th minute, Duru won a corner, and Jackson’s kick tested Sharman-Lowe again.
Five minutes later, Acquah was fouled 20 yards out but Jackson’s free kick hit the wall.
In the fifth minute of injury time Jackson won a left-hand corner taken by Gotts. This was cleared for another corner, this time bundled into the goal by Acquah for 1-2.
A good response, and for the first half hour of the second period .that slender one goal margin remained. We won a series of corners 10 minutes in but could not convert them.
In the 58th minute, we received our first yellow card as Smith was booked for a foul on Sterry. Two minutes later, Duru was also booked for a challenge on Ennis.
On the hour, Rovers made a couple of changes, Broadbent and Kelly coming on for Clifton and Crew. In the 62nd minute, Bailey shot just wide of Farmans’s post from the edge of the area.
We then replaced Duru and Cameron with Newby and Tiensia.
In the 65th minute, Farman saved twice at close range from Olowu, the first parried and the second with his feet following a free kick.
In the 70th minute a Jackson cross went out for a Gotts corner but this was again cleared. Four minutes later, Smith was replaced by Mahoney.
Another four minutes later, the 78th minute, it was 1-3. A cheaply-conceded right-hand corner was played short by Molyneux to Ennis. He passed back to Molyneux who rifled the ball into the top left corner for his second.
Two minutes later, Rovers made another three changes, Gibson, Street and Sharp coming on for Ennis, Molyneux and Ironside. Seconds later, the substitutes almost made immediate impact, Street crossing to Gibson who fired wide of the right post.
In the 84th minute we replaced Jackson and Williams with Pressley and Campbell.
In the 89th minute, after a good Barrow build-up, a dangerous cross from the left by Mahoney found no-one to tap the ball home.
The crowd was 3,009 including 199 visiting fans. Our man of the match was again Robbie Gotts with Newby also very industrious when he came on.
Rovers saw the game out, keeping the ball in the corner as much as they could and, in the 94th minute, Campbell was booked for a foul on Street near the right touchline.
We weren’t totally outplayed on the night, and had some good periods, but Doncaster deserved the win. However, our bad defensive error for their second made the scoreline look worse than it should have done.

Re: Barrow v Doncaster Rovers, match thread
Our new manager has hardly any time to sort our team out,but with Saturday's win and despite us getting beaten,I think.overall we have improved. If our new manager is given time I think we will definitely end up.with more wins than loses.
