If he does, he will go down in my estimation. The whole idea that it could happen was nonsense from the start and would impugn the character and professionalism of our management team.

Teams regularly make 3 or 4 changes. Can’t see how fielding any squad players could be interpreted as playing a weakened team.

He might put Foley into midfield in place of Campbell and bring Vassell in. Probably swap Aquah and one of either Whitfield or Mahoney for Pressley and Smith.

Surely Williams would play defensive midfield if Campbell is injured?

A game Carlisle must win or they won't overtake Accrington and with Tranmere's remaining fixtures would be difficult to get above them as well.

So the members of Tranmere's Paddock forum seem to believe that they will win because we are on the beach and dont give a toss. Whilst many members of this forum seem to think they will win because we deliberately gift wrap the match to them as a act of Cumbriacide.

As a life long cynic my logic I have to say is somewhat different. This is based on the view that in all our time back in the EFL we have never done a damn thing to harm or damage the prospects of Carlisle United. Just the opposite in fact. We assisted them in their run in for promotion to League One a couple of years go, thus contributing to the end of our own play-off hopes. And this season we have gifted them six points in two games that we have arguably dominated. Six points without which this debate would be absolutely and totally academic because Carlisle would now be relegated.

So what evidence is there that we are now going to rise above the annual gift aid for Carlisle and do anything that would actually damage them? If history is anything to go by, not only will we beat Tranmere, but probably do so in some unforeseen dramatic fashion which then destroys their mental capacity to properly finish the season.

Tranmere - be afraid. Be very afraid!

Remember on our last game we had to be Chester youth at home and they could only field youth team due to financial difficulties.
Think it was Woking playing Dover and Dover were at home and doing well.
Looked like two home wins.
We lost at home against kids who had a fighting spirit and luckily Woking lost and we stayed up.

Nothing is certain but uncertainty.
I think if Carlisle do go down it will be a big money spinner for the teams in the National League.

I think this sums up the reason why many people on this forum have a dislike for Carlisle.

Prior to our return to the EFL in 2020, it had been 58 years since we last played them in a serious game. So there is no reason why we should dislike them any more than any other club. They aren't even local rivals. So let's not hold a grudge just because RC's main presenters happen to be Carlisle supporters. Yes, they are irritating, but that's no reason to take it out on the club they support.
