I really don't get this fixation with Non League players. There are literaly hundreds of players out of contract this season at EFL Clubs look at our midfield 3 for a start. These guys are non league for a reason. Yes you might get the odd one to two gems from non league but come on surely in our recruiting we should be looking at out of contract EFL players.
I will give you one for starters. Morgan Feeny 26 years old Centre half out of contract at Shrewsbury. Carlisle skipper when they got promotion from league 2.

No fixation, thats our market and let’s be realistic. A 19 goal midfielder from another league club isn’t coming to us, they are going up the leagues. You find a player that is ever present, scores 19 from midfield, 18 the season before, plays in the North West and one we may be able to realistically take a risk based punt on. It’s all to do with sticking it in the net from midfield. Something we don't do enough of. National League is a very good and very professional league and we will be looking in there.

Re: Haughton, looks like a one year extension has been triggered which would probably put an end to interest from many clubs. He may also of course be very happy bossing it in NLN.

All signed for us and have looked decent Admittedly it took Mahoney a while. Farman, Telford, Garner, three of our biggest earners now all released. For me there is only Spence who we took from Non League who has proved himself. our better signings have come to us with EFL experience. Also having watched a number of National league games this season for me the quality has dropped off this season .

They don’t score goals. My whole point towards Haughton was that he is a creative midfielder, scores goals and plays every game. He's triggered a year extension so happy at Fylde. Every player we take comes with a risk that they may not click at Barrow. Dom Telford being one. Garner our record transfer being another. There’s alway that risk.

To be fair, Telford has only ever clicked at 1 club - Newport - and Garner at none!

Fletcher looks ok but his lack of pace concerns me. When in full flow his running style reminded me of Harrison Neal. Both Fletcher and Stanway need a good season behind them in the EFL to prove themselves imo. Like I said earlier in the last few years we have only had Spence who has come from non league and proved himself imo

Agreed. Fletcher has some nice touches but has a definite lack of pace and definitely not up to the level of Spence.

Dean campbell showed promise when he first came but settled into sideways and backwards passing. This corresponded to the mid season period where we couldn't buy a win.
He improved under AW and showed much more attacking intent before injuries and talk of end of season transfer finished his season.
On balance I would like to keep him ,spence and Gotts alongside fletcher and wiliams we would have a decent set of midfielders to suit most occasions.
Offer them Improved terms and concentrate on improving the strike force and a couple of defenders .

Picked up an achilles injury in the first game of the season and hasn't played since though it was said he had thrown the crutches away and was a 50/50 chance he might have got a run out in some of the final games. Would welcome back the lad that left us behind but as we know from experience it would be a massive gamble.
