Re: Big question.
What do people expect when the money is controlled by people in Kendal who have no connection with Barrow. There is something wrong when the main council offices are in Kendal a town with a much smaller population.than Barrow.
Definitely off topic but it needed highlighting.

Re: Big question.
We have always been a 4th tier club essentially bar a couple of seasons. We would never be sustainable in the championship purely to our geographical location. We would never get the amount of support to sustain us. Fleetwood with their sugar daddy managed a few seasons in Div1 but eventually came back to their natural level. Sorry but we are at our level unless we do a Wrexham and somebody with very serious money comes in knowing they going to lose an awful lot of money because they certainly wont gain any that's an absolute certainty. Its a dream sorry.

Re: Big question.
Spot on let's be honest without continued support financially from one director in particular we'd not survive on our attendances in league 2 !,Gary Neville recently was on the overlap discussing Salford and they've put millions into the club but says it can't go on because he said there should be a salary cap in league 2 because at present it's not sustainable for most clubs!32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:04 am We have always been a 4th tier club essentially bar a couple of seasons. Think we've done very well to survive EFL2 when you look at the infrastructure and the challenges we face- an unlikely promotion, a 48 year stint in non league, just look at some of the teams in the League below and it soon becomes clear that we are punching above our weight. One thing we are good at has been placing priority focus on the first team and recognising the performances on the pitch and making tough decisions when needed. The decision to pull the plug on an Academy / B Team was a tough decision but right now we just don't have the infrastructure or financial ability to make it work. The focus has to be on the first team. Carlisle is the example of what happens when you act too late on poor performances.blue nige wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:49 amSpot on let's be honest without continued support financially from one director in particular we'd not survive on our attendances in league 2 !,Gary Neville recently was on the overlap discussing Salford and they've put millions into the club but says it can't go on because he said there should be a salary cap in league 2 because at present it's not sustainable for most clubs!32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:04 am We have always been a 4th tier club essentially bar a couple of seasons. "To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Re: Big question.
Watched the latest welcome to Wrexham. They spend 50million extra on top of what they’ve been putting in each season to get out of league one at the first attempt. They don’t even have changing rooms/showers at their training ground yet

Re: Big question.
Not the most exciting thing to think about potentially but I’d take 10 years of league two stability. Obviously you never know but anything more I would think we need to find a new investor and probably a new ground

"a Championship place"-who knows, maybe.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 12:48 pm Well it’s not really, but as the forum seems to be going through a down time phase I thought I’d start a topic for debate. I’m expecting Desmond 2-2 to say “ what a stupid question” but here goes.
In the last ten years we’ve made giant strides both on and off the pitch is it possible in the next 10 if all the stars aligned, could we be pushing for a Championship place ? Burton and Yeovil have both managed it, so why not us. And another question in the last ten years have we always been a full time professional outfit ? I seem to recall we went full time after the FA Trophy win in 2010 but did we then resort back to part time for a while.
Let the debate begin.
League one definitely.
But the main stand would have to be full length. The Cross Bar a two tier stand, and the Popular side redeveloped and full length imo!

Re: Big question.
And all that would require millions and millions of pounds of investment so unless we get new ownership we are where we are a steady league 2 club and that's fine by me.mall wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 9:36 am"a Championship place"-who knows, maybe.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 12:48 pm Well it’s not really, but as the forum seems to be going through a down time phase I thought I’d start a topic for debate. Maintaining League 2 status is an achievement every year. Whilst we should always strive to progress, let’s not overlook the fact that staying in League 2 is huge too.

Re: Big question.
Indeed. It is our principal objective every season these days; any other ambition would be tempered by our limitations.Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 10:11 am Maintaining League 2 status is an achievement every year. Re: Big question.
Hopefully we can better last Season`s average home gate of 3,038 would be a good start, but agree just staying in league 2 must be our target every Season until someone else comes in to help, if not it will only get harder for the Club to maintain our EFL Status.
Re: Big question.
What we are achieving currently is mahoooosive and should never be underestimated by supporters and board members alike. No problem with having a dream but always try to keep things real.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 7:43 pmThis.
