As far as I can tell there has never been a moment in Whings tenure at any of three clubs he’s managed when any of them have looked remotely like relegation fodder. I include us in that and when he turned up at HS we really did look like relegation fodder.

Sorry Sam, I am with SB on this (and I think most in this forum will be). We have looked much stronger since Whing came in and he will be able to manage the changes in the players we have available and get the best out of what we have. I have no great expectations about promotions but I am not worried about relegation either. League 2 stability seemed impossible for those first two seasons after we were promoted in 2020, completely unexpected in August 2019, so I am happy to be where we are, but with the possibility of going under the radar again (look how we have been around the top of the table at various times over the last 3 seasons).

Whing came in to steady the ship.
There is no doubt he is a grafter and unassuming.
We just have to see how we go.
I thought with him spending time in lower leagues he may have spotted a decent prospect as a striker not necessarily obvious one.

The club have admitted that Whing was their number one choice to succeed Wild. At the time he was involved in the NL playoffs with Solihull and they felt that they couldn’t wait.

So Whing was the product of a strategy that initially could not be implemented. He has never been seen other than by some members of this forum as just a “safe pair of hands”. That just happened to be available at the time. And, to be fair he has never looked like just a safe choice if by that you mean interim, temporary or will do until something better comes along.

His chatty down-to-earth avuncular style may fool some into thinking that he may lack a bit of depth but that is totally in contrast with his playing career. He was a very effective no nonsense player in his time. So the fact that he acquires players with a physical presence and wants to make the team a little “nastier” shouldn’t surprise anybody.

He also seems to go under the radar when it comes to the punters and rivals and yet his ppg since joining the club would have had us in the top half over an entire season.

I’m surprised at the number of doubters that have emerged during the close season and can only put this down to the fact that those with rose tinted glasses every season are yet again being disappointed at the lack of “marquee” signings whatever they are.

If we are to have a season not fighting amongst the “also rans”, Andy Whing will be the reason why.

We’ve made decent solid league two signings so far. I’m not expecting anything spectacular but (famous last words) they are the sort of signings that give you a solid season with no worries of the bottom 2 which is fine

Club’s live and die by player recruitment. If you get it wrong you are heading one way.(see our friends up the road)
Happy with our business so far and the squad is coming together nicely. We have a whole new midfield for next season and it may take time to forge partnerships and an understanding.

Everyone knows we've struggled for goals last couple of seasons and it’s ultimately why Wild’s side fell short of the play offs. Goal scoring is the nut for Whing and the team to crack, not just for the strikers but collectively as a team.

One being a freak eye injury. Hopfully he comes in fully fit with a point to prove and we sell him for a small fortune after a great season with us

Ged Garner signs 2 year Contract at Newport.

Will score a couple of notable goals early on before disappearing into the South Wales countryside. One of very few opportunities for him to stay in the EFL.

Well done to him for somehow getting a two year contract. But if we want to be in the EFL by the end of next season then we’ll have to be above Newport. This signing does nothing but reenforce my view that we will be.
