Club Shop and Dave Day

So another Dave Day and no sign of Barrow AFC in the town. Thousands entering the town for the weekend and exploring the town centre etc and not one sign of Barrow AFC.

I can only say what an opportunity missed for the club to go and sell some goods to people from away.

Even create a Dave Day x Barrow AFC merch to market. Can’t help but think we just shoot ourselves in foot and then wonder why we don’t make much money when we have big local events such as this we are not even attempting to take advantage of them.

Yes I know there’s the charity football game but let’s face it there will be about 350 people there and mostly from Barrow.

Maybe next year…

Is it too much to expect thats as a minimum the club produce Hawaiian shirts with bluebirds on? We had over 4k people in the town and could have easily sold 1000 units.

Why would your average out of town biker want to buy bluebird Hawaiian shirts? I don't think they would.

The club have supported the event without exploiting it. I see no issue with that to be honest.

You’d like to hope they at least would have knocked up some Dave’s Day 2025/Barrow AFC pin badges or something for today at least though, saying that the crowd looked sparse so perhaps not even worth doing that

As if they would have sold anywhere near this amount dream on…… be surprised if they’d have sold over 20 if they were to waste money making such items, hence why the club did the right thing and didn’t waste money making shirts no one would buy!

Firstly, the game was fairly well attended. Secondly I really don’t think it’d have been worth the club going to any expense in producing something that would’ve been basically for a one off event. And thirdly, I don’t think it would’ve looked good on the club taking away from what the Dave Day organisers were doing.

Quite a decent, fun atmosphere at the game which ended up 14-4 to the all stars with Bluey getting five minutes towards the end of the game and the community side ending up with 15 players on the pitch for the last ten minutes

I’d be trying to take advantage of 40,000 visitors to the town in any shape possible , every other local business is attempting it.

To start creating extra revenue these events are something we need to try and cash in on - just as most of the businesses in the town do. It’s not taking anything away from the organisers.

A simple stall in the town centre (where 90% of the bikers will be venturing throughout the weekend) is all I was pointing out. As some said above , pin badges. Bikers are well known to collect, what an own goal. We will never know without trying things outside of the general box we operate in.

. Bikers this weekend have paid fuel cost overnight accommodation cost then food and drink cost. They are hardly going to purchase any Barrow AFC merchandise. If buying anything it would be Dave Day 2025 memorabilia as a memento from the Weekend.
Credit to Barrow Raiders who with their central location did sell out there overnight pitches for camping on Craven Park and had entertainment in the big marquee so they probably made a few quid. They do however need the money more than the soccer born out by the need to raise admission prices mid season .
