Not sure when Andy Whing is back from Canada does not look we have a forward or winger as yet to be announced.

I realise it's not the end of June when contracts usually finish but that did not apply to Spence,Gotts or Campbell but I suppose getting rid early may have meant saving. few weeks wages.

There was no getting rid early. They join their new teams when their contracts run out

Well if it’s true that we have offered him a contract already then that’s a good move made before pre-season starts.. He can choose to go to Swindon on trial if he wishes and in doing so lose the contract offer without the certainty of getting one at Swindon. Bromley’s interest is based a lot on the possibility of losing Michael Cheek. So again they may not be wanting to make an offer just yet.

Irrespective of the way it turns out I like the way we seem to have gone about this. Somebody out there has a brain. At worst we probably pushed his price up for someone else.

As to his ability, I’ve no idea if he’s worth the interest or not.

Like the look of this lad. Scored six hat-tricks last season and averaged 1.184 goals per league game. He certainly knows where the goal is and well worth a punt, bearing in mind what we have endured up front for a couple of seasons. No doubt would take him a while to adjust to League football. We have offered him a contract, the two other named teams have not. Question is, would he want to move North to Manchester?

I’d hope his agent if he has one would say to that question. “Well son how badly do you want to play in the EFL next season?” It’s a career progression not a life sentence.

I’ve seen a piece written about him suggesting where he should go after leaving Amersham Town ( admittedly I can’t imagine a more different place to Barrow than Amersham). The writer came up with 5 clubs all in the NL/ NLS and not a sniff of a League 2 club.

This might explain the level of apparent competition in L2 for him and why only one club (us seemingly) have chucked out an offer.

However we have to fish in a pond that is getting increasing over fished. It’s becoming more difficult these days to finding decent pickings in the NL these days never mind L2. So this sort of option although a risk should be the type of risk that we are prepared to take.

Can see that Tabor lad going Swindon, in theory a more established league two side than us and improved under Holloway who is a big name, but we shall have to wait and see, more worried about us needing centre backs right now than anyone up front

Maybe. Probably. But what are Swindon’s needs? Do they see him as a useful investment or serious contender? Meaning you sit on the bench as they already have some experienced players. And then evaluate in a few months time. Maybe you’ll be a regular next season son.

At Barrow I can at least sell you a story that might imply you’ll see first team football soon. But fine if we’ve taken a punt and it doesn’t stop the boy wanting a trial with Swindon so be it. Withdraw the offer and move on.

But for Heavens sake don’t hang around as a back stop while other clubs make their minds up. We’ll lose any advantage by doing that.

I suspect that this is a situation that is not unique for us. Perhaps it was Nixon putting it into the public domain that has given it the oxygen of publicity.
