Re: New signings
'Re Wunderkind Tabor, he might make a go of it in L2 but L1 is a much bigger ask. Will be interesting to see how this plays out for him.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Best fish and chips they have ever had apparently, fish the the size of whales.
Re: New signings
Don't know where else to put this, but with Acquah moving on that brings to an end a trio of strikers (Acquah/Telford/Garner) we all had high hopes for but their goal scoring record at Barrow was poor. Not one of them had been anywhere near the EFL Top 40 goals scorers and last term we were the only team in the entire division without a player in that top 40 list. Yes, I keep going on about this because it highlights how poor we’ve been up front for the last two seasons. Our defensive performances have helped us win tight games.
Telford, Garner, Acquah, Barrow goal scoring records-
Telford - 2 seasons, 54 appearances - 5 goals (1 in 10 games)
Garner- 3 seasons, 50 appearances- 7 goals (1 in 6)
Acquah- 2 seasons, 82 appearances- 14 goals (1 in 6)
Our loanees in this time have been better - Pressley / Tyler Smith / Stockton
Stockton- 1 season, 17 appearances- 7 goals
Smith- 1 season, 21 games- 5 goals
Pressley 1 season, 21 appearances- 4 goals
I know it’s early doors in the transfer window and next season we will have a completely new look up front, but we need a goal scorer from somewhere or it’s going to be a really difficult season for us.

We keep hearing everyone wants a striker but that's what we need .Jonty wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 11:11 pm Don't know where else to put this, but with Acquah moving on that brings to an end a trio of strikers (Acquah/Telford/Garner) we all had high hopes for but their goal scoring record at Barrow was poor. Not interested in everyone else it's us that count.
Whoever bought Garner wasted usefull resources.
Cannot believe we got a fee for Aquah.
We need someone who (sorry thinks out the box) who recruits the players.
We are not going to be able to recruit experienced forwards due to the cost implications.
The Scout Mr Ogden who recruited Bennett and Williams brought two decent players in which we developed and served us well at the time.

Re: New signings
It’s not just strikers we need it’s creative players; we have a very solid League 2 midfield now after the signings but they aren’t really the flair players, obviously depending what system we are going to play we need some pace/creativity from wingers as well

Jesus Pedro will you stop banging on Mr Ogden. He was a Dinosaur of his time and the players you are on about were not up to league football as was proved when they moved up. Our current recruitment team do just fine under Iain Woods leadership. Spence, Campbell, Whitfield, Jackson, MJ Williams, Stanway, and more have all been brought in the latest being Innes Cameron who is young enough to improve. He could well be that elusive 20 goal a season striker we all crave for. with a record before he came here not to dissimilar to Scott Quigley's and we all know what he went on to do for us in his two seasons with us.

Dinosaur in terms of he brought two players who could play when with us.
Who we actually received a fee for them both irrespective of where they are now.
Spence,Campbell and Gotts all did a good job.
How much did we receive in transfer fees compared to the two I mentioned.
Whenever I hear the word dinosaur it reminds me of the young person who tries to reinvent the wheel.
Still think a decent scout is worth more than 10 sporting directors.
Let's see who we bring in up front and in midfield.

Re: New signings
Your living in the past Pedro off the field the games moved on things have evolved and very few players in league two move on for a fee these days. It's a two year cycle for journeymen at that level. It's a short career and for players at league one or tw level is more financially better for them to run contracts down then move on for free. We got fortunate with Aqua this week but I do suspect Stanway if he carries on his upward trajectory could go for a fee either in January or next summer. Unfortunately though at our level transfer fees are very few and far between.Pedro wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:02 am

Re: New signings
Cheltenham fans have mentioned he wasn’t good enough and was sent back to Norwich before Christmas. Hopefully just cover if so
