Re: Barrow v Bolton
Does the EFL not dictate that all night matches should kick off at 7.45 pm, unless they issue a dispensation?
Re: Barrow v Bolton
Definitely mising a RWB/RB.Duru is still not back in full training after fracturing his foot with us but is not thought to be far away, However I feel if he is going out on loan it will be to a L1 club.As for tonight I was impressed by the first hour and we could have been ahead not necessarily by poor finishing but by good Bolton defending. Think we became disjointed by the substitutions. Boltons were pacy and organised. Ours just didn't get going apart from Winterbottom who made 2-3 terrific saves(big plus points now with two excellent keepers despite Wyll's Farmanesque brain fart which would have been a red in League game). Very impressed by Harper and also by the first half intensity more akin to a vital League game than a friendly.Hemmings looked the part even though obviously not yet fully fit. Raglan,Smith,Earing and Cameron all look smart signings.Looking forward to the real stuff. Bring it on.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 9:05 pmThat's why I'm surprised we've signed nobody for the right side of defence!, unless we're trying to get that lad from Blackburn again!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 8:54 pm For all the talk of the famous 20 goal a season striker my biggest concern would be a lack of pace at the back, was surprised to see Worrall starting and playing so long (albeit he did put some decent crosses in)

Re: Barrow v Bolton
Much more competitive run-out than Saturdays pretty pointless game. Harper, Raglan, Smith and Hemmings were decent, Canavans positional play as good as normal. Need to see more from Walker I think. Foleys appetite for the game still impressive. Finding a creative midfielder would be a priority for me.

Now now.
The bad brews are what you would expect in Barrow .
I complained at Morrisons that the tea was not hot
The woman said it's Health and Safety.
Computer says no .
Spoons served me a steak and it was tough and I told them.
What should I do the waiter said told him to give it to s cobbler or Gaskins for those who remember there shop.
Read my comments previously ,do you have PTSD from my comments.

Good positive interview. Looking like maybe two, possibly three or four more additions yet.

He put in much better performances when playing there in the latter part of last season than when on the left.

Re: Barrow v Bolton
You’re spot on. If we play with wing backs both Jackson and Newby are two footed and are equally as strong on the left or right. Once fit I suspect MJ will be one of three at the back with Canavan and Raglan with Shipley and Foley also able to play there. We appear to have some good versatility in the squad and with Whing hinting at three possibly four further additions things are shaping up nicelysaltcellar wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 10:13 amWe have Ben Jackson for the right side of defence.

Re: Barrow v Bolton
id expect us to snap up Kane Hemmings on that showing. barring a goal his performance was almost faultless. he won most headers, and his hold up and link up play was decent.
the midfield trialists were a bit meh....

Newby is too weak in the tackle he's a winger/ wide player but defensively leaves a lot to be desired!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:13 amYou’re spot on. Re: Barrow v Bolton
On holiday abroad so watched the game via YouTube. I thought we played well especially during the first half, encouraging signs.
Re: Barrow v Bolton
Agreed. Cost us too many times in that position with weak or non-existent challenges and poor positioning. He's never a wingback and to be honest should be no more than a squad player, if he's a regular this season again I'd be worried. We've spent too long trying players like him and Stephenson before that as wingbacks, it's a specialist position and you can't just throw a midfielder there and expect them to do a job.blue nige wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:33 amNewby is too weak in the tackle he's a winger/ wide player but defensively leaves a lot to be desired!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:13 am

MJ, Canavan and Raglan is a back 3 waiting to get destroyed by a quick strikerMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:13 amYou’re spot on. As for Newby I know you can’t really say this because he’s a local but I would be hoping for better in the starting 11, definitely if it means at full back/wing back
Re: Barrow v Bolton
Bearing in mind that we are all worried about where the goals will come from, Newby's assist and chances created stats last season were beaten only by Ben Jackson.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 5:06 pmMJ, Canavan and Raglan is a back 3 waiting to get destroyed by a quick strikerMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:13 am

Early kick offs might be a problem for them.
