Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Think he could still us a job then Pedro ?
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Not sure he had Rooney with him last time .
Not sure if you can bring players in and if he could do something like pay per goal. with a basic flat rate of wage for six months with option for longer
All I know we need a forward and I would say a decent midfielder.
Money of course is the problem but we need to get some wins or the attendance will drop.
The present team at best will keep us up with alot of draws and few wins.

"The present team at best will keep us up with alot of draws and few wins." Thats wishful thinking, really dont think so.Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 1:01 pmNot sure he had Rooney with him last time .

Was there yesterday .The passing was all over the place. We don,t seem to have anyone capable of scoring. We still need that no 9 who are few and far between on our budget.I just hope Andy Whing can stop the stupid mistakes that gifted MK Dons two goals yesterday otherwise we could be in a desperate situation come mid season.I appreciate it is mostly a new team but they have to play better than that.

Oh yeah you’re right. So we have one proper fullback in the whole squad. And even that fullback probably hasn’t played fullback in a while. I’m sure foley could do a job at right back if needed (he’s been put there a few times) .. I’m worried about the lack of options we have for changing to different systems in game and for adapting starting lineups when neededMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 9:37 amJackson was signed up as a left full back and iirc we started last season with a back for of Feely right back Vassell and Canavan at CH and Jackson at left back.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 9:16 am
We don’t have any full backs in order to play a back 4 , so we’re a bit limited unless we start playing players out of position which you won’t get away with in this league.
MK dons were a solid team though that we matched through parts of the game. I think they would honestly do OK in the championship. Haven’t seen many better teams against us at home since we have been a league club so I’m not going to worry just yet

Before joining Barrow Quigley scored 35 goals in 143 games an average of 1 goal every 4.08 gamesPedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 1:01 pmNot sure he had Rooney with him last time .

At Barrow he scored 36 goals in 73 games an average of 1 goal every 2.08 games
Since leaving Barrow he has scored
24 goals in 122 league games
Average of 1 goal every 5.08 games
A total of 94 goals in 348 league games an average of 1 goal every 3.70 games so he's not the answer.

He's 32 and released from a National League team so yes he's not the answer, but even in his season for Barrow in the league about five of his goals were penalties. Though that gets me thinking who would take our penalties, none of the free kicks so far this season have been very auspicious.

I'd be quite happy getting into the penalty area!

Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
. We have MJ to come back he can do a job both at the back and in midfield. The manager seems happy with the versatility of the squad in being able to adapt to different formations something he has commented on a number of times in pre season. Yes we need a couple more additions but I get the impression the Barkhuizen signing was forced upon is when we lost the loanee from Watford with injury. Barkhuizen wont be a cheap salary and that has probably meant we are waiting to see if we can pick up a bargain basement option before the window shuts. Whing alluded to nothing being imminent after yesterdays game.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 2:09 pmOh yeah you’re right. So we have one proper fullback in the whole squad. Jackson was signed up as a left full back and iirc we started last season with a back for of Feely right back Vassell and Canavan at CH and Jackson at left back.

Sorry I couldn't make any of the pre-season games and I'd forgotten that we got a penalty in the Rochdale friendly.
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
If Quigley is match fit and available at low risk then he could be worth a punt. We need options. We don’t have that sort of player in the squad and haven’t since he left. He can manage centre half’s and the big games and was a popular player here. If anything it would give us a boost.

We can't even get this formation right NEVER mind changing it in a game!, we did this continually with Clemence and look what happened there, player's need stability with a system all this messing with systems just causes confusion and we constantly under Clemence ended up in disarray!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 3:56 pm.
