It’s two games in pal and maybe with a bit of belief from the manager and players and playing to our strengths we might have got something from those games. Instead it’s the same old know who we are nonsense. The club operates like it’s in the north west counties league

Bingo.......You need to get real. We have a bottom half budget in League 2 the manager is only being realistic. To think we can compete with the likes of Chesterfield and MK Dons over a season is for the birds. We are a mid to low table league 2 team who aspires to go higher but without massive invstment that aint going to happen. No good setting aspirations high and talk like that only to fall flat on your face you ned to keep it real and that exactly what the manager is doing.

The result is the same either way. Setting up all defensive and not at least having a go isn’t going to drive attendances up

By the chairman’s admission at a Q&A last seasons budget was 15th in the league. I expect this season will be lower than that. Not that the club have lowered it just many clubs will have increased there’s

I think Bingo is referring to the way the manager talks the team down all the time.

You're right about facing up to reality but being positive breeds positivity and being negative breeds negativity.

No matter how hard the task you have to believe that you can do it. That goes for things in life other than football as well.

If the manager keeps talking about 'little old Barrow' that's what we will become.

Mr Whing - think POSITIVE, no matter how hard the task may be.

Personally I took the managers views as being realistic not at all negative. Unfortunately the expectations of some supporters are not realistic given our finances and infrastructure.

Think what people are getting at , it's the "he's a great manager " " they're a top team" etc ,we know these things BUT if this is what the player's hear and see ,it's not going to help, just concentrate on who's available, how we did tactically ,new signings etc!, when you play football the last thing you want is your manager bigging other teams up !

Didn't realise they'd changed suppliers until we got food, my lad wasn't impressed with the sausage roll tbh. Doubt we'll be buying food from now on

Think what people are getting at , it's the "he's a great manager " " they're a top team" etc ,we know these things BUT if this is what the player's hear and see ,it's not going to help, just concentrate on who's available, how we did tactically ,new signings etc!, when you play football the last thing you want is your manager bigging other teams up !

Whether your budget is 1st or 15th, we should be going out to win every football game. Wild would at times refer to the budget but have the mentality of ‘we’ve got to find a way around that’ and at times that was to out-battle and out-run teams. Evatt had a similar mentality of getting everything from the players he had.

Cresta at Barrow Rugby is the same, low budget and an injury ridden squad but finds a way to compete against teams with a much bigger budget and you see it in the players. Yesterday they were beaten by an Oldham team whose two half backs are on more than the entire Raiders squad. Nobody will be complaining they got beat, because they went there and had a real go and scored 5 tries.

That’s what my problem is with our first two games. Yes, the likelihood is that we’ll get beat, but at least go and have a shot at winning the game, rather than just ‘’frustrating them’.

If you want a bigger budget or people to invest, then go out and make something happen on the pitch. Entertain the crowd to maintain attendances, get yourself highlighted as a team that likes to have a go, that people admire and show the spirit that has got us where we are.

For what its worth, I think people place too much importance on what the manager says about the opposition, particularly after the game when it can't affect the result. If the other team is better, as MK Dons clearly were, there's no harm in acknowledging the obvious. What matters more is what are he and the rest of the coaching staff going to do on the training pitch to improve our own play, particularly in attack, because apart from the odd flash, we looked clueless.

He used the word "stratosphere" to describe the level of financial clout they have compared to us and he was quite correct. My opinion. is that our budget this season is probably as low a level compared to the rest of league 2 since we came back into the league. Last year the chairman said it was 15th I suspect this season its lower than that. I don't think the budget will be lower than last season in monetary terms it’s just more clubs have increased budgets and are spending more than us salary wiseIMO.

Whing post match first two games has mentioned our “off the ball shape”. He knows which teams are going to dominate the ball, whether that’s home or away. He said himself after MK that we need to be braver when we have the ball. To go 90 minutes at home without a single shot on goal is not going to have fans queuing up for tickets, but, that said, its largely a new group and the team will need time. We have to show more intent when we get the ball, especially at home where we will have our best chance of getting results. That doesn't mean opening up and going gung-ho or we’ll just get spanked.
