Or maybe the directorship and management felt the setup needed an additional pair of hands given Worrall has only just started coaching and we lost Taylor over the summer.

Not entirely sure how I would feel about that appointment if I was AW not exactly sounding like a supportive endorsement from the BoD. Does feel like he's being a bit undermined to me and like others have said it does mean someone in the wings to take his job should it go pear shaped (not saying its right or wrong by the way just an observation)

Reading too much into it.. he's here to offer experience that the current management do quite have. Would think that BoD have done this in support of AW and I think it's a smart move by all.

This is the best signing for us, maybe he could play centre forward.
Rob Kelly proved what a decent and good coach he is but wants to coach and not Manage
It's obviously no threat to Whing but hopefully will shape him into a better Manager
Having said that Rob Kelly does look younger than Whing.

Or alternatively perhaps Andy Whing has been looking for someone to replace Taylor (yes I know Worrall is player/coach but still) and suddenly a great experienced EFL coach who knows the club has become available, Whing has met him and they got on like a house on fire?
Daft as this sounds for appointing a coach it feels like a real morale boost for the fan base as well, everything just feels flat at Holker Street at the moment but this is a great move imho

I know what you mean but I just don't think Rob Kelly is the kind of guy who would be there to be anything other than supportive of a young coach working his way up. I'm not sure he would have returned if he felt he was being used in the manner you suggest.
