The players have to take some.flak for that for sure but on the other hand, perhaps it's time to bin the formation we try to play, even with our best 11 and go back to basics with a 442..

No point having a six foot plus striker if we don't put crosses in, get the wingers wingering!!

Current formation we leave ourselves too exposed, we just can't seem to adapt.

Team selection doesn't have any consistency and yeh, we have suffered with injuries but we still don't seem to have that 11 that played week in week out!

On the pitch leadership, caravan has been great for us no question but when the chips are down, I would like to see a real leader out there, vocal, aggressive, strong!

Just hope things change quick before we go down a season of gloom!
We played 442 in the first half against Swindon, and got minced, and reverted to 532/541.
442 only works if you have exceptional central midfielders, particularly defensively.
Smith and Booty are not good enough.
I don’t enjoy criticising individual players, but currently they are both poor.
All the other close season signings (not including the ones we haven’t seen enough of because of injury) are at best only average with the exceptions of Barkhuizen and Winterbottom.
It’s not all Wood’s fault, Whing would undoubtedly have had an input.
BUT we haven't got 2 decent wingbacks and we needed a strong mobile central defender, also someone like Pressley who can hold the play up to bring in other players into the attack, without the above this system is doomed!

All we can do as supporters is do what we always do and put our trust in the owners. They took the calculated risk and unfortunately it’s failing spectacularly.

We have far too many signings that have thus far been totally ineffective, the team was supposed to be built on defence and be hard to beat yet we ship goals for fun.

For me theres something sadly wrong with this set up but all we can do is put our faith (as always) in the hands of the BOD.

Let’s be honest there hasn’t been anything remotely good about anything this season we just keep turning up and hoping for the best.

All we keep doing is settling for mediocrity and that’s reflective in the whole set up.

Where’s the fight, where's the ambition, where’s the planning. Then we wonder why HS is like a morgue we even set up defensively for homes games.

We need a miracle let’s hope and trust the BOD can pull some rabbits out of the hat and quick.

This sounds like a request for an imminent sacking.

Think this is the only thing as fans we can change really and its getting holker street back to a place where opposition players don't want to visit. Last few seasons opposition wingers have had nothing but grief along the popular side, this season the compete opposite. The holker street ends been silent, I know how hard it is for those that try to get an atmosphere going but we manage it away. Think we need to look at our selves being that little bit nastier like we want from the players.

Also is it time to look at letting the kids back inunsupervised and just stick more steward presence back in the holker street end? For all the negatives they did help create at least a bit of noise

Works both ways the fans tend to get up and make a bit of noise when someone wins a header or flies into a tackle, at the minute we’re not seeing that from anyone really. The players are professionals and need to give the fans something to shout about. Numbers will only drop further with poor performances and results. No matter who the opposition are no matter how good, they can’t stop you from running or competing. We’re nowhere near teams for the most part at the minute.

Just listened to Whing’s post match interview.
Without naming any names he’s thrown a load of players under the bus there. Saying most of the players on the pitch at the end aren’t good enough and the few that are aren’t trying hard enough. Players hiding and not taking any responsibility.
Thats forum kind of stuff and is probably true but to hear that from a manager that has to work with them and get the best out of them is incredibly surprising and personally I can’t see a way back from this. Most of those players have been signed by Whing/Wood in the Summer and are contracted to the club and at this rate they will be here long after Whing has gone.

Whing may have been speaking the truth but imo he shot himself in the head with that interview.
If he hadn’t already lost the dressing room there’ll be players who for sure won’t be playing for him.
Gone by Walsall .

Totally agree with this.
He said more than once that some of the team that played Blackpool would be nowhere near the starting eleven on Saturday.
Inspiring stuff from your manager, if you are on the fringes of the team or in bad form, and put out there by him for all to hear.

Agreed. Gave me post Grimsby Amorim vibes. Somethings gone seriously wrong very early into the season and I don’t know what. Feels as if they’ve downed tools already

I get what he’s saying but the players know he’s talking out of his arse. Squads not big enough to rotate them so unfortunately they will be rewarded by getting another 90 minutes on Saturday

In many workplaces employees will have periodic performance reviews where they will sit down with their Line Manager to discuss their objectives and performance and look at any relevant data. Do football teams not do this? Where they examine the stats and identify any shortfalls? That way it's not personal, the Manager can't be accused of scapegoating and is just coming to fact-based conclusions e.g. 'Connor, everyone else ran 5.5 miles approximately, you averaged 1 mile so we need you to do better'. You know that sort of thing but I'm no expert.

I’d rather he said it how it is, like he did. I’d be more worried if he wasn’t concerned.

Its a good point but if your not performing in the workplace your line manager wont be sacked..
In the football world its results based. If players dont perform inevitably the manager pays the price. Unfortunately for Whing it looks and sounds like he has lost the dressing room and when that happens there is only one outcome

I don't know how many went to Blackpool but those 6 lads they showed on the TV never stopped singing all night.
They deserve a mention and I hope everyone at Holker Street take a leaf out of thier book on Saturday.
Back the team.
