Let's face facts it certainly is going to have to be a shared responsibility scoring if we're going to stay in this league as I can't see any of our current strikeforce getting into double figures. My main cause of concern is our ball retention. It's basically non-existent. Too many times there's no one available in a bit of space to receive a simple forward pass in midfield and we end up with an aimless lofted ball into the corners. It's never a good option especially the way we're set up and we need to stop doing it. As welcome as that win was yesterday the quality of all round play needs improving upon massively. Possession, Possession, Possession should be the working title for this coming week's training schedule. If we've got the ball they can't score but we possibly can.

The risk of moving the ball around in your own half and losing possession is not rewarded by creating chances at the other end. Whing (and Wild before him), prefer a direct approach with quick counter and set pieces are giving us better chances.

Yes, but lobbing it aimlessly forward and gifting possession to the opposition doesn't do much good either.

I watched the game. York City played some excellent football. On the day could have beaten many teams in EFL Div 2. Carlisle didn't play that badly. York were that good!

I don't think you could call us a counter-attacking team at the moment. That was the essence of my original post. We don't seem to have a planned style of play. Dare I say we just seem to be 'Whinging' it a bit at present? The injury crisis has no doubt got a lot to do with the lack of strategy. That and the obvious limitations of the forward line.
Wettest game: v Morecambe 1994 Boxing Day. We got beat 0-1 standing pools of water all over the pitch. How it never got abandoned I don't know.

It will make a big difference when Harper is back fit; if we can keep him and MJ fit for the majority of the season after that we will have a lot more control in midfield with those two in there, will make a huge difference
