Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
All you people slagging off various players signed for this season hardly get a decent price from anyone if people read our forum.Big question where Is the money going to come from for the so called quality players to replace them.We are not moneybags Carlisle or wrexham.Until if/ when we can persuade someone or a few to put money in our club we would do well just to maintain our status in this league.Get real.
Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
We don’t have a huge budget no but some of our players are hardly on peanuts, we’ve recruited poorly and overspent on a few players who haven’t performed over the last year or two.liverpoolann wrote: ↑Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:56 pm All you people slagging off various players signed for this season hardly get a decent price from anyone if people read our forum.Big question where Is the money going to come from for the so called quality players to replace them.We are not moneybags Carlisle or wrexham.Until if/ when we can persuade someone or a few to put money in our club we would do well just to maintain our status in this league.Get real.
The likes of Kian Spence were brought in from a lower league and were relatively cheap so it’s our recruitment process and selection that needs to improve as there are players out there within our range as we’ve shown before. That’s where we need to get better as we’re unlikely to come into money any time soon.
Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
I don’t buy this “recruited poorly”. We have made mistakes - but even Premiership clubs with their resources sometimes recruit duds. As Pete Hornby has said, we have to focus on less expensive signings, either experienced players who are bargains or lads who may develop. Inevitably, some will not work out.
Campbell, Spence and Gotts all went to league 1. Experienced signings like Canavan and Williams are a success. Harper looks good, McCann promising, I have hopes that Fletcher will progress. Looking at others: Whitfield, Newby, Raglan, Jackson all capable efl2 players. I may have missed someone, but IMO we have signed well, given our relatively limited resources.

It's not about how much money you throw at players,it's your recruitment process.liverpoolann wrote: ↑Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:56 pm All you people slagging off various players signed for this season hardly get a decent price from anyone if people read our forum.Big question where Is the money going to come from for the so called quality players to replace them.We are not moneybags Carlisle or wrexham.Until if/ when we can persuade someone or a few to put money in our club we would do well just to maintain our status in this league.Get real.
Money can help but look at Carlisle under Williamson spent shed loads of cash and got no where.
Leeds United nearly went bankrupt throwing money at players to try and succeed in Europe and failed they spent £100 million in 2000 alot borrowed to sign Viduka,Robbie Keene ,Rio Ferdinand etc .
Ray Wilkie. and the two Dave's put a team together that won the FA Trophy one against a high spending club who had been promoted to the league in Stevenage.
The Board have done alot my complaint is the resources have been spent badly.
We need a scouting system that can pluck players from the lower leagues.
We have proved in Stanway that there are gems and you know what no one bought him before us we need more if the same.
If we stay up with this team that will be a success.
Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
Bit one paced at the back but other than that have to agree in the main. Maybe inconsistencies and the focus of some need to be ironed out as that’s our Achilles heel.Jim wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 10:03 am I don’t buy this “recruited poorly”. Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
Some good points raised and some ridiculous and obvious things pointed out!
We always seem to hone in on the negatives, we rarely have a good thing to say about the team, the club! Why is this? Curious
We've had a decent run, we got beat by a half decent outfit away from home, yes not ideal but it's hardly the end of the world and it wasn't as if we got absolutely played off the park either.
We all know we have a lower budget, why keep [SwearFilter] on about it? We know who we are, we know where we stand and for me, rather than consistently picking, probing and pointing fingers, start looking at what's good?
I've said before, the team isn't as bad as some make out, the players are not as bad as people make out!
It's football, there is always going to be highs and lows and unless we had billions to spunk away on players, winning and playing ultimate football is not realistic!
We are almost halfway through the season, we are not in the relegation places somewhere said we would be not so long ago, we are in the next round of the fa cup, just come off and unbeaten run, in a reasonable place in the league and the players/team are actually starting to get a bit!!
We have to be realistic, it is frustrating for sure but by Christ, if I was a player reading this forum I don't think I would bother putting my boots on!!
We all want good football to watch and we all want to see a winning team..that's what it's all about and I get that but the way we react sometimes is sometimes embarrassing.
will just go get my hard hat, get in my bunker and await a barrage of hate..

Great post I couldn't agree more. The meltdowns by some when we lose are embarrassing to say the least.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 12:36 pm Some good points raised and some ridiculous and obvious things pointed out!

Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
It all went pear shaped for "moneybags" Carlisle when they hit the American jackpot, allegedly football naive owners willing to throw cash at unfit injury prone players and completely unsuitable managers resulting in back to back relegations eventually finding their true level in non league. A true example of money isn't everything. I would like to think if Barrow were lucky enough to source extra investment like that, it would be used in a far more professional manor than that shambles up the coast.liverpoolann wrote: ↑Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:56 pm All you people slagging off various players signed for this season hardly get a decent price from anyone if people read our forum.Big question where Is the money going to come from for the so called quality players to replace them.We are not moneybags Carlisle or wrexham.Until if/ when we can persuade someone or a few to put money in our club we would do well just to maintain our status in this league.Get real.

I wouldn't say Carlisle's true level is non league-not now anyways. They will go all the way to the championship, and good luck to them.Jeeby wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 5:43 pmIt all went pear shaped for "moneybags" Carlisle when they hit the American jackpot, allegedly football naive owners willing to throw cash at unfit injury prone players and completely unsuitable managers resulting in back to back relegations eventually finding their true level in non league. They weren't good enough to stay in league one or two, hence their trip into non league, your true level is where you are playing at the moment. Im sure all teams in the national league and league two dream of playing in the championship, whether that's a complete pipe dream or reality only time will tell, but promotion, not relegations help.

That might be their “true level” at the moment but I can think of a few of their players that I wouldn’t say no to.Jeeby wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 6:22 pm "I wouldn't say Carlisle's true level is non league-not now anyways. They will go all the way to the championship, and good luck to them."

Re: Bromley FC (A) match thread
Before any starts saying this is a criticism it’s not.
The question that needs to be asked is where do you see the club in 5 years?
No youth set up, based out of the town and with crowds not likely to get any higher.
It’s great in League Two but you are only one bad transfer window away from a relegation battle.
Upon promotion I remember a lot of people saying that they’d be happy for Barrow to consolidate its position within League Two.
Thats been done now, so whats next? What is the next step?

Without investment you would have to play the percentages at this stage and say back in non league tbh, especially if the 3 up 3 down campaign finally comes in as well.Hendoblue wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 10:00 pm Before any starts saying this is a criticism it’s not.

Unless we sell Stanway for £500k at some point, or beat Wigan then draw Man United away…..
