When you go 2 - 1 up with five minutes to go you should be able to see the game out but you knew deep down we wouldn’t. I’m sorry but there was a certain inevitability about the outcome, We’re a bit like the England cricket team, we have our moments but you know how it will end. So we now go into Tuesday night’s game knackered after the fun and games of extra time meanwhile Tranmere are fresh having not played. I’m sorry but being gallant losers doesn’t wear with me. We need results no matter how we get them. Hopefully we get three points on Tuesday but if I’m honest I very much doubt it.

Very disappointed with the first half.
Pleased with the reaction second half albeit frustrating to concede almost straight away.
That tie should have been coming back to Holker Street a week on Tuesday.

Should never have gone to ET the roar from Barrow when that second goal went in was unbelievable and we should’ve gone on and dominated the remaining minutes.
An absolute sickener, we never seem to gain the impetus from great positions.
Fingers crossed for 3 points Tuesday.

Can’t knock the team after how they responded second half we have a good team I have no doubt.
It’s about belief and about going for it - there is no reason we won’t win on Tuesday - up the bluebirds

The narrow losses are often more painful but no time to dwell on this one. Need a result against Tranmere Tuesday.

1st half was rubbish. Better 2nd half. When we went 1-2 up with just a few mins to go I said to my lad they’ll definitely score and take it to extra time. Seems like we always concede late on.

Looking at the weather forecast I think this one could be in doubt which bearing in mind extra time today and our woeful home form might not be a bad thing.
Re: Wigan Athletic v Barrow, match thread
Said exactly the same thing to my mate. It feels inevitable despite a tremendous effort from the players.AugustusCorpa wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 7:58 pm 1st half was rubbish. Better 2nd half. We just can’t get rid of our defensive mindset, everything should’ve been in our favour after Cannys goal, the momentum the crowd behind us instead we revert to siege mentality. We should have game managed those last few minutes.
We missed a golden opportunity there as AJ said in commentary that could have been a season defining goal instead we carry on bottom feeding. I could stomach having a defensive mindset if we didn’t concede so many crap goals.

Gordon worked as hard as he could and was a nuisance. Whits was in and out but mostly good until he was absolutely knackered. Jackson is a waste of bloody space as a defender, a passer, and a penalty taker.

Re: Wigan Athletic v Barrow, match thread
The turning point in the game for me was the crunching tackle/foul on the left hand touch line - showed a bit of bite and passion, reminiscent of Kevin Proctor. It raised the crowd and the players.
First half was insipid - poor decision to punch from Stanway for their first goal resulted in deflation of the travelling support.
I can only recall 2 penalty shoot out wins in my 40 years of supporting the Bluebirds - Harrogate in the Unibond Presidents cup and Derby more recently in the league cup.
Shame Wigan didn’t get to experience a Tuesday night under the lights experience at Holker Street. Clearly the Wigan faithful weren’t up for the magic of the FA cup today!

Not really sure what’s going on with Jacko maybe he’s played out of position and lost his confidence. Being honest when I heard his name mentioned to take a penalty I feared the worst. I think he needs a break in order to reset, he’s a very talented footballer but somethings just not right.Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 9:21 pm Gordon worked as hard as he could and was a nuisance. Re: Wigan Athletic v Barrow, match thread
I feel there are a number of people on here who just like it when Barrow lose. So they did get their way I suppose to have another pop on anybody they don't particularly like such as the manager, Edwards etc etc.
Its also interesting to note the comments of some when the match was in play - where they there at the game when they make a shedload of negative assumptions or just listening to it somewhere? For example there may have been a few moans in the first half but the fans round me were certainly not restless. But we must not let peoples agendas get in the way of what went on today on the field of play must we? Yes we were a bit rattled after Stanway's error but we made sure we were only one down at half time.
It may not be everybody's idea of dealing with the situation but the game would have been over at half time if we'd been two or three down hence the way we played after the goal. I'm as frustrated as the next person as to our lack of effective forwards and know Gordon really could do with more help as he was a class act today but the second half showed we have goals in us.
I'm down this evening (as I am when Barrow lose in any game) and particularly as we didn't get over the line and get into that third round draw. But slagging the team off - all the time - as a number on here seem to take delight in doesn't serve a purpose even though we will continue to hear the usual rubbish spouted as those people keep telling us that its their right to express (negative) opinions on a forum. We've heard you a million times. Why don't you go and be negative somewhere else on some other forum? We've heard it all before. But will hear it again after the Tranmere, Gillingham games and beyond.

Think that's totally wrong no Barrow supporters want the team to loose.andyg wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 10:16 pm I feel there are a number of people on here who just like it when Barrow lose. You will always get happy clappers who ignore the problems.
We should have held on got the win but so inept like in other games.
Penalties are a leveler.
Not sure what is going on with Jackson.
Whing is on borrowed time.
Nice.guy just not up to the job.
The next two games are crucial no excuses
