Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Cook would be ideal, we really need a physical presence up front; problem is if he is available there will a lot of league two and even national league clubs who can probably contribute a lot more towards his wages than we can.
I know data isn’t the be all and end all but interestingly we did actually win on XG on Friday night, which just backs up that we did actually play ok, but yet again we struggle to score and then our defending has really gone to pot since Rob Kelly left again.

We've had loads of possession in the past a d if you don't put it in the net it counts for nothing.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 7:26 am Cook would be ideal, we really need a physical presence up front; problem is if he is available there will a lot of league two and even national league clubs who can probably contribute a lot more towards his wages than we can.

If you look at Graham Alexanders interview after last week's midweek game he says Cook and another player will be judged on what they do now not the past.
The final loan will be down to Cook but I think Alexander will know Mcdonald so hopefully he can convince him.
Make it appealing to Cook by offering a lower wage but extra payments on goals scored.
What worries me if Walsall take Josh back now we have sacked Whing
Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Cook is 35 and is not the answer. How old was Grant Holt when he came back? What a success that was. Stop looking backwards
Just say no to VAR

Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
When did Grant Holt score any number of goals before coming back to Barrow he was 28.
Then nothing and he had been playing another 9 years before coming to Barrow.
Andy Cook has consistently scored at alot lower league clubs.
From the age of 31 he played 150 games for Bradford and scored 69 goals including Division one.
Ironically he got injured at Barrow.
We need a quick fix he can be it if he keeps injury free and also Gordon stays .
So he at 35 is a far better player for his age than Holt.
Who would you suggest if not Cook

Cook is probably better than what we have and would be a risk but is it a risk worth taking?Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 9:41 amWhen did Grant Holt score any number of goals before coming back to Barrow he was 28.

So long as balls are being put into the box like they have been last few games, at least he would stand a chance.. despite his age, his awareness and skill of knowing where to be is the difference to what we have I suppose.
Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Cook may be 35 and at the tail end of his career but I think he would suit the way we play with deliveries from the flanks. Look at all those corners we had the other night. Don’t think we got on the end of any of them. At least Cook would attack the ball.
If it’s an option we should try and bring him here. He’d finish as our top scorer even if just half a season.

Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Despite his age and coming back from a serious injury he’d be an asset to most league two teams. Was never blessed with pace anyways but he knows how to score and is a target and plays with an edge.
Sadly I think a few clubs higher up the league and with more money will also be in for him, plus would you want to go from two promotion challenging seasons to a relegation battling one. I would hope we’ve at least enquired though.

Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Michael Cheek 34 ,Olly Palmer 32 both not quick but score goals Cook if he came would do a job for us !, but after the way some clowns
Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Cooky was an awesome player for us always led the line well and wears his heart on his sleeve. I would hazard to guess that If and that’s a big IF he was made available there will be teams out there that would be more than willing in matching his salary on any loan deal including add on bonuses.
Re: Barrow v Cheltenham
Incidentally, as we are digging through our old baubles and tinsel, where is Scott Quigley these days? Wiki says he is without a club.
