We fail to ever capitalise on players because we have no structure at the club so we rarely have any home grown talent.

The lack of any kind of structure and real identity and this underdog bullshit is probably part of the reason for a series of underperforming managers.

Thats more to do with our owners not being “football wealthy” and unlike many others in our league and some in the National league they don’t have a bottomless pit of money they can just throw at the club willy nilly

1) we will sell wyll for a free at some point. Hopefully not january, but if we do Ben is more than capable to take over.

2) the nature of league 2 is transfers for fees are rare. Either it is for a player that plugs a gap that a team desperatley needs or it is for that once in a half decade player.

3) 2 years before getting promoted to the football league, our biggest expenditure was a new boiler (is that still working anyone?). That shows how far we have come. The investment in the ground, the team. Unfortunatley, we could make a lot more money by doing other things, but that costs.

Time to give Winterbottom a chance imo.

If any other keeper we had would have had a bad spell of games like Stanway has we would be calling for him to be dropped being local is helping Stanway.

Surely what's helping Stanway is the goodwill from some phenomenal performances before this.

I suspect if Winterbottom had a run he'd be competent with occasional errors, just like Stanway. Our issues this season aren't with goalkeeping, where we've actually succession planned quite well.

He’s only 24 which in goalkeeping terms is still young, even the best at that age make mistakes they don’t generally mature until late twenties.
He’s had some good games and made some great saves this season, and has also made a couple of mistakes along the way. I think he plays without any confidence in what’s in front of him as our defensive line at times is all over the place and the likes of Shipley yesterday, and raglan are error prone - that doesn’t help him.
I remember Joel Dixon throwing goals in for a couple of seasons until he matured and started to play his best football under Evatt.

We have a few weaknesses but goalkeeper isn’t one of them, it’s probably the last tbh. Do you take him out of the firing line and give winterbottom a game maybe….but personally I’d keep faith and sort the back line out and everything that’s in front first.

Agreed. He's not perfect but if the rest of the team were at his level then we wouldn't be talking about the possibility of relegation.

He has not been the same since coming back from the concussion injury. That winner from Salford went straight through him. The Stanway before his enforced layoff would have saved that. Maybe those around him including his agent are blowing to much smoke up his arse regarding a so called "lucrative" move and his head has been turned.

Missed first goal as retuning to seat after tkt sales so just thought usual bad start at home,Thought we were playing really well for us for most of it and equaliser fully deserved.Second half we didn’t reach those levels apart from the break that nearly produced the wonder goal.The substitutions didn’t help made us worse and when Salford brought on a lot of tall players and they had couple of shorter lads with pace made us look slow.and I felt we would concede again.Stanway for all his heroics and wonder saves is not immune from criticism and he should have done better with the shot which was coming direct at him at a nice height.His kicking is variable at moment.Like mentioned by someone else he has not reached the heights of performance before his injury.Young and a definite talent but inconsistent at moment.If this Gallagher bloke had any in put on suubs we don’t need him cos we played worse.Thought we deserved and would get draw but alas was wrong.Lets put it right Sunday ppretty please.
