Re: Barrow v Salford City, match thread
Played very well, Smith was very unlucky with his effort and would have been an incredible team goal had it not hit the bar. Ref was a bit naff late on, give fouls for them but identical fouls for us not given..so frustrating.
Good effort, shame about the result but you can see glimmers of improvement and if cooky or any other striker comes in, then things might just start to click

Story of the season give away poor goals and can’t take our chances. Crossing was absolutely awful couldn’t beat the first man.
If the rumours are correct that Gallagher has the job let’s hope he can change it around as nothing is changing
Oh and how can I forget. The substitutions.. Whitfield and Mahoney in centre midfield , absolute madness. That is brain dead

Absolutely this. Some very strange decisions there. Why have Whits and Newbs on the same side? Why have Mahoney playing behind Jackson? Why have Jackson at the club (that one's just my peev)? Why take off Fletcher who was still hassling the Salford defence?
McDonald ain't the guy. He just ain't.

Hopefully Mcdonald no where near the new set up. [SwearFilter] uselessBarrowLad71 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:12 pm Story of the season give away poor goals and can’t take our chances. Crossing was absolutely awful couldn’t beat the first man.

Deserved something out of the game just a shame about the goal but Salford did have very fast and tricky wingers.
Why we substitute when we do is beyond me, taking Smith off just laid the middle open for them.

Bit odd that the manager doesn't know anything about any potential newcomers, even if he is only temporary..

McDonald has just confirmed he has had NO say on players coming in the January transfer window saying the club is sorting that
I think a decision will be made after Bristol when we have a gap in games

Re: Barrow v Salford City, match thread
A draw would have been a decent point but once again 2 really soft goals we desperately need 2 right sided defender's one full back the other a mobile central defender Williams, Canavan, Raglan ans Shipley all are far too slow and everyone of them keeps backing off when team's attack them Gordon for all his efforts isn't good enough Fletcher has far more about him!
We created some good chances but wasted them,
Recruitment needed and fast !
Luckily results went for us but we can't keep relying on that !
For anyone who went how cold was that wind I'm still cold now !

Far too patient at times
Passing about with no real penetration as they enter the final 3rd

Re: Barrow v Salford City, match thread
The players seem to be more settled in the playing style that McDonald has produced. It is more on the front foot and positive. There has to be an element of worry that if we get a new coach who changes things again to a more defence minded set up it will be disruptive.

I think McDonald deserves a chance. They’re certainly playing much more confidently over the last few games and with a bit more luck could have had a few more points. The players look much more motivated and happy and that goes a long way.
He won’t get one though.

People saying Gallagher has the job if true, I don't know what that decision is based on he's never managed or played in League 2 so it would be another massive gamble!
I know he's been an assistant at Championship level but this league is a completely different animal!
