“Undertaken an extensive process”
Appointed someone who was already at the training ground
Obviously hope it works out great but that’s some statement….

Re: Gallagher - confirmed
I think they've taken a cheaper option based on who knows, I'm not sure about this !
Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Another risky appointment but sometimes it pays off, only time will tell, could be another Evatt or Bust.... just hope he's backed to show what he can do.
Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Will this be a kind of joint management role with McDonald?
As in Gallagher the main man but learning from McDonald under him.
He’s big pals with Luke Daniel’s & obviously happy to work with McDonald as well so seems as though the board have there yes man. Probably a fairly cheap appointment also.
But all the best Paul hope you work wonders

Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Personally very excited about this. Bound to have plenty of north West contacts which hopefully we can exploit. It's been difficult to find many positives around the club recently but as fans we've got to get behind them all at some point. It's a risk but who isnt in a league 2 relegation fight. Experienced professional and its nice to put the rumours to bed and hopefully move forward

Well we will have to see what happens ,no track record but from now on the results are down to him.
Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Nope. McDonald has left and John Welsh also formerly of Preston has come in to assist.BAFC1901 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 7:47 pm Will this be a kind of joint management role with McDonald?

Wouldn't have been the first name on everyone's lips but the key for me it's two new coaches with a fresh pair of eyes on the squad.
Time for all associated with the club, ourselves included, to muck in as one and get things moving in the right direction.
Popular side since '03.

Well...we go again.
More Evatt than Dunn please
Potentially a good fit...bit of steel in there possibly
Best of luck

Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Think McDonald has left the building. …Well one things for certain, we’ve tried experienced Managers and we’ve tried relative newbies and there seems to be no fixed formulas for success at Barrow. Things have got to line up on and off the pitch for success. With some quality additions in Jan i think he can stabilise things and we can climb the table. The rest of this season is all about getting safe.
I’ve just listened to his first interview and he managed to get through it without mentioning projects, underdog, quirkiness, cul-de-sacs and the forbidden phrase. That’s a good start. Think he will be determined to do well here and I think he will do well. Best of luck- Up and Away Bluebirds!

Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Very successful experienced pro who will have the respect of the players. Has already worked with some good Managers whilst still being relatively young.
Every appointment is a risk. Time to get behind Paul and the lads now.

Re: Gallagher - confirmed
Good luck to both Paul Gallagher and John Welsh.
Hopefully they will be supported with two or three in and then a bit of shuffling of the pack as it’s needed.
Be interesting what the final squad is for the second half of the season.
They need our support herein, positivity breeds positivity. Negativity is catching and quickly brings everyone down.
