That was torture. I agree with Xerxes (I think it was . . .) who said it's a long time since feeling such a wave of relief in getting three points. Niall owed us one. Up until this season I would have had no hesitation in saying Canavan was the single most important player we have recruited since we came back into the EFL - - - an experienced, quality defender and a mature leader. Then this season he develops the habit of getting sent off on a regular basis and also dropping his playing levels. So it was fitting that he of all people should get the winner, with what I think was our first and only attempt on target in the whole match. I agree with what the new boss said in his interview when he said he had been talking with Niall quite a lot as the skipper and told him to stick his chest out and go around setting the example and the attitude. Quite right too. And thankfully Canavan did that yesterday in the most appropriate way by getting the winner. Maybe the "fates" were also on our side yesterday with their missed sitter. We tend to have a history of decent outcomes against Colchester. Harrogate on the other hand have not been much "fun" for us over the years. That just has to change next up.

Did he not say in one of the interviews he was looking to move this direction ….
Not sure where he lives now but that interesting comment ( unless I dreamt it 😳).
Nup not a dream. 😂 just re listened to pre match interview and he said
“I’m personally going to move this way “ ….
Not that it means anything specific but shows intent and commitment..

I like what I’m hearing, he’s motivating, clear in intended methods, can care and blast in equal amounts while giving a nod to team working , togetherness and positive mental health…..
I’m feeling positive 😀

Interesting to hear the backroom team more or less picked the team ,this will be Worrall played at a decent level and always comes across well, I honestly think Dino ( no doubt he will) needs to assess our injured players could some of them play instead of hiding behind sports science?.
We have to stop this Harrogate bogey team nonsense if we have the right attitude/ commitment we'll win ,no negativity from now we as a whole have to believe, yes only one win BUT I think everyone player's included needed someone like Dino onto Tuesday!😀

Well said.
I think Canavan is the most important signing that we have made in my 40 plus years of watching the Bluebirds. But he has definitely dropped off this season to the point of letting us down. But then even without the goal I thought he was back on it yesterday.
(We did have at least 1 other shot on target by the way - it was quite a decent chance for Newby in the 2nd half but he hit it tamely straight at the keeper).

In my humble opinion, these players have the ability, but have been lacking the self belief, and obviously the more games lost, the more it evaporates.
Dino seems to have inspired them, reference telling Canavan to stick out the chest and act like the captain.
Plus, I feel that he won't tolerate passengers.
Hopefully yesterday was not just a flash in the pan, and the victories will build up, continuing Tuesday, then on to Fleetwood Saturday, coincidentally my 21st birthday (for the fifty first time) so come on Barra, make an old man happy come 2:30...
La lucha continua...

The Barrow goal actually resulted from a Connor Mahoney free kick, headed across his own goal by Samson Tovide and kicked in by Niall Canavan.

I would say it came about because Dino Maamria actually wanted us to win the game unlike recent managers. For the most part we put three centre backs forward for set pieces in the second half, whilst leaving Barkhuisen as cover at the back. I haven’t seen that intent at the club for quite a while.

I more mean I think we will gain enough to stay up if we win Tuesday.
