I dont agree with all the 'Stanway needs dropping' brigade, yet. The lads more than capable as he has proved time and time again. But the more he's put under pressure for the sake of what should be more capable in front of him, he's bound to make the odd error.
Again, Dino has another full week to work with the team and get his strategies across. With another few games, a possible new signing and injuries returning etc - reasons to be cheerful, part two.

If he's the best of the 3 and has acknowledged he was at fault for goals then I see no reason not to stick with him but unless the lad who posted a comment on the Barrow WS interview was messing around then I'd be very worried about his attitude. The comment basically said he's saying "we are getting relegated" while he is in the gym with mates. Young lad with his mates can say silly things and could possibly be someone trying to cause trouble but if true, it’s the wrong attitude to have.

If true, I would drop him for that alone. Winterbottom has looked half-decent on the games he’s been called upon.

We didn’t replace Paul Farman with a similar standard, or even better keeper. Gone with a younger player, who has made more mistakes and we have paid the price. The table doesn’t lie, or the lack of clean sheets.

He’s not alone though. He’s just one of many.

We were absolutely spoilt with Kian Spence and Robbie Gotts. Two hard working midfielders who never stopped running and getting stuck in. Now our midfield, in comparison, is lazy and doesn’t even properly track off the ball runners!

Defence has been shambolic at times, to put it mildly. How many games have we looked settled and strong? You don’t have to have a great memory to recall how we were with Chester, Canavan and Ray. Strong, composed, settled and organised.

Up front, Rose and Gordon work hard. With more creativity, I think they would bag the goals needed more times than not. Sure it would’ve been great to bring in a Cook or Stockton too, but definitely not the area of the field to be most worried about.

We massively need key players back from injury. Whitfield and Williams especially. Also Sam Foley for that experience and leadership at the back. Smith in the midfield, because at least he’s been working hard and getting stuck in.

We can still get out of this, but it’s going to take everything they’ve got for the last 14. Maximum effort and minimum mistakes.

So what's gone wrong? It all starts with recruitment and it stops there. Lets be frank it has been abysmal this season and the buck stops at whoever sanctioned the players that were brought in. No doubt about it we are heading into non league and honestly I shouldn't be saying that with 14 games to go. No fault of Dino by the way god himself would struggle to keep Barrow up. If by some miracle we do stay up the writing is on the wall we drop very soon anyway as we cant compete financially at this level. Our level sad to say is not Division 2. Its been great to be back in the football league but alas it isn't going to last is the stark reality. Morecambe dropped, Harrogate will eventually and Fleetwood and Accrington possibly, all clubs a similar size to Barrow.

Noticed Shrewsbury have 2 games before we play ours on Saturday as they play tonight and dinner time Saturday so they could be well out of sight come 3pm for our game.
Harrogate on Friday night and on current form (they should have beat Bromley) I can see them winning which will drop us into the bottom 2 albeit with 3 games in hand then the pressure really will be on to try get a result. Gillingham are as poor as us so its another who wants it most and takes their chances then obviously Cheltenham away before a massive game against Bristol at home the following Tuesday.

Alarmingly a few sides down the bottom are throwing results together now, fingers crossed its our turn soon. Shrewsbury and Harrogate fans wrote themselves off completely a month ago, with players returning for us here's hoping we can fluke a win somewhere and turn things around. From tranmere down i wouldn't rule any side out of it yet, a lot can change in a couple of weeks in this league

There aren’t two teams worse then Barrow in this league. Without checking I think we’ve had 3 league wins in the last 4 months. Home results are just dire and we always seem to concede late goals. We all knew Fleetwood were going to come right back into the game second half. 14 games to go, I can’t see us winning more then two of them.
Proper doom and gloom. I don’t see us going on a run like some of the other teams are doing. I really do hope I’m wrong.

Hard to disagree with any of the above. Shrewsbury brought Gavin Cowan in after sacking Appleton and have won what 5 in 5 now?
Pulled themselves clear. Cheltenham made a change early on and have got themselves safe, as now Bristol Rovers are doing.

We sacked a manager and then ended up getting even worse for a while before Gallagher went and Maamria came in.
I fear it's too late though now the damage has been done. A poor team which he's unable to really change now, the loss of several players through injury and a lack of form and confidence and quality in key areas. The signs were there back in September, January needed a good transfer window and managerial appointment - we got neither and it was another disaster bar Danny Rose.
Our form against the teams around us has been dreadful and even Harrogate are now getting results and looking hard to beat, can anyone see us doing what they've done and keeping clean sheets and picking up points....
Lose at home to Crawley and Harrogate and throw 2 goal leads away and you deserve to go down. Only a miracle now will save us and it's been a long time coming like watching a slow motion car crash.

That's what I was thinking. Not looking good at all.

Though I would add that I think this weekend will give us a good idea in terms of, can Dino instill into them that fight and grit to grind out results that will keep us in the EFL,' after showing the true sides of their character to Dino-in taking three points from nine with the capitulation under pressure in the last couple of games.

I really wish I disagreed, but I don’t. We have kick started Shrewsbury and Harrogate into survival and, unlike those teams, I don’t believe we have the grit or determination to survive. I think it will be us and Newport that go down. If we are to have any form of success or stability next season, the majority of this squad needs to go.
