Re: Meet The Board
Those losses clearly aren’t sustainable.
Once the bad performances arrive, as they have done now, attendances drop and the loss is even bigger.
Plus a lot of games on Sky, have taken its toll on attendances.
It’s a shame a backer never arrived, when we were on the up, two to three years ago.
I think the current owners/board have done a good job, deserve praise, but ultimately, I can’t help but feel they’ve taken us as far as they can. Just the way I see it.
You need a huge amount of money to go for League One, even more to compete at that level!
Given enough time, we’re sadly heading back to the National League.
It sounds incredibly defeatist, but without more backing, perhaps that is our level.
This season has been an absolute disaster so far. Unless we massively pick up soon, we will ultimately go down.

Re: Meet The Board
Not defeatist I feel exactly the same, we've got BAE giving us nothing, it's a scandal!, anyway other massive company would surely want to have their name on the shirts or around the ground etc.they constantly giving the mantra caring about the local community with their money we could have an academy etc, I'm sure we could have worked something out !
Re: Meet The Board
BAE are shower of [SwearFilter].All they care about is their shareholders.Gone are the days when Vickers Armstrong were involved with community, the rugby and the football.

Re: Meet The Board
They have been consistent with their approach for many years now only getting involved in community initiatives in the town. To be fair more folk and a bigger cross section of the Furness population probably benefit from that approach than if they just pumped millions into Barrow AFC or Barrow Raiders.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 7:49 pm Not defeatist I feel exactly the same, we've got BAE giving us nothing, it's a scandal!, anyway other massive company would surely want to have their name on the shirts or around the ground etc.they constantly giving the mantra caring about the local community with their money we could have an academy etc, I'm sure we could have worked something out !

Re: Meet The Board
Christ the forum has done a hard reset of itself and we’ve gone back to the most over discussed topic there is, BAE Funding.
BAE should be funding facilities for the people , not individual football clubs. Why does nobody shout about Kimberley Clark or Orsted?

Re: Meet The Board
So what's your views on other clubs being sponsored by local firms across the world??? or should the major brands stop supporting football clubs or going by your logic invest in local communities, guess how many clubs would survive without these funds ? Anyway thanks for your views considering you haven't bothered for a few years!LewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 8:45 pm Christ the forum has done a hard reset of itself and we’ve gone back to the most over discussed topic there is, BAE Funding.

Re: Meet The Board
BAE is very different to other ‘ Major Global Brands ‘ as you know and you’re very well aware of the reasons BAE can’t invest what is effectively tax payers money into a failing business. And that is why I said BAE should focus on supporting local communities - exactly the role they’re playing in Barrow Rising….blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:05 pmSo what's your views on other clubs being sponsored by local firms across the world??? or should the major brands stop supporting football clubs or going by your logic invest in local communities, guess how many clubs would survive without these funds ? Re: Meet The Board
BAE are the main sponsor of Furness Education Trust that benefits the very people who are the future of this town. That to me is far more worthwhile than any sports clubLewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:17 pmBAE is very different to other ‘ Major Global Brands ‘ as you know and you’re very well aware of the reasons BAE can’t invest what is effectively tax payers money into a failing business. Re: Meet The Board
Brave decision under the circumstances. If we do go down which seems likely now, will the board pull out? They’ve come in for some stick and whilst you can’t fault their effort and funding, we’ve been run as a part time club in a professional league for some time now as even Mark Cooper once said. The last 18 months to two years has been an absolute disaster on and off the pitch. Dwindling crowds, awful football, dreadful signings and a couple of poor managerial appointments and god knows how much money frittered away in the process. All the signs sadly are a club that’s on the down and not so sure it will even stop at the national league. There’s some big hitters there which we are not.
Re: Meet The Board
I think the fan base owe the current Board a huge vote of thanks
Think back to when Paul Casson left
Without there input where would the club be?
Mr Casson needs our thanks for promotion to Conference
The current board the thanks for their role in promotion to the football league and the development of what was a lovely but delapidated stadium
Cover on 3 sides, seats on three ( just)
In the early season interview Paul H stated , other clubs were spending Millions
Ask yourselves….where does this money come from?
Unlike the Glazers at Man Utd …, they haven’t really lived massively beyond their means
Don’t be too harsh on the board in the meet and greet

Re: Meet The Board
I think there is little or no disrespect or ill wishes to the owners. I think all reasonable fans will echo the sentiments above. But...in previous MTB meetings they have been open about making mistakes. I think it is past time to address what many fans think is ther biggest (or two biggest) mistake(s). I think it is on the owners to convince the paying fans that they haven't made a massive blunder with the DoF/Sporting Director/CEO position. I think the majority of fans are looking that way to explain why we have had multiple appalling managerial appointments and atrocious playing recrecruitment.PMc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 10:56 pm I think the fan base owe the current Board a huge vote of thanks

Re: Meet The Board
Totally agree. The board have done wonders for the club and they deserve due credit. It would be a shame if everyone ripped into them . It's been a journey and there's a growing sense that we,re approaching the end but by God there's been some good times along the way. .....and of course a few bumps in the road. (Sorry).
If we do go down however I really hope they give Dino a chance to build a team worthy of a national league scrap.

Re: Meet The Board
No matter what happens and it does look like we will go down and will deserve it.PMc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 10:56 pm I think the fan base owe the current Board a huge vote of thanks

Paul Casson the Great Leader got alot of stick especially off me
,but we are forever indebted to him for what he did.
The present Board are fans first but have put money in to the club and we should all be gratefull.
I hope the meeting sees them treat with respect we owe them that and much more.
The way things have gone I wondered if someone had a bet on us going down when the odds were good.

Re: Meet The Board
Maybe the commercial team at Barrow isn’t good enough to go and get these deals. Normally scampering around for match ball sponsors a couple of days before a game.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:05 pmSo what's your views on other clubs being sponsored by local firms across the world??? or should the major brands stop supporting football clubs or going by your logic invest in local communities, guess how many clubs would survive without these funds ? Re: Meet The Board
The Chelsea Money will have been the difference - the £1.4m would have been without the money bought in from that gameMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 7:09 pmHornby also said in his recent interview with Adam the club lost £1.4 million last season when in fact not a couple of weeks later Companies House showed it was in fact £950k. Im unsure how an accountant can be the best part of half a million pounds out in an interview.
