It was met with some applause so it was nice to know I wasn't wrong.
Mr Shearer said he agreed that we needed someone like, or another, Pete Wild. That's not really agreeing with the point I made. We don't need another, we need the original. We NEED Pete Wild!.

The fact is we lost the core of a good side and recruitment never worked out as well as hoped. It can’t be brushed off as anything other than that. This side is nowhere near the level of the squad Pete Wild had. Evident by results. Some players it just doesn’t work out despite best intentions of recruitment.

I eventually got to make my point that I, along with many, thought our future lay with Pete Wild and that I hoped the door wasn't completely closed to him. I didn't put it as a question because they allowed a NDA to be placed. It was met with some applause so it was nice to know I wasn't wrong.

I think the answer you were given by Tony Shearer tells you Wild won’t be coming back whilst the present ownership are in charge. Need to forget it whilst they are and move on

I can’t make the Q&A but can someone ask who’s forcing 3 at the back (I’m guessing Wood)?

There’s no way 4 coaches in Whing, Macdonald, Gallagher and Maamria have looked at that squad and the form it’s been in and thought that’s the best system to play. It’s meant to sure you up at the back and we bleed goals, always down the right where either Barkhuizen (not a wing back) or Jackson (nowhere near League Two level) are nowhere to be seen.

There was nobody on the podium claiming to have any involvement or influence regarding formations or tactics. Questions regarding that side of things were a bit of a waste tbh.
Having said that, I'm glad Foley wasn't up there as this was the chance to talk about the club, rather than the team.

We are in survival mode, up s**t creek, arguably with a paddle.
Recriminations/finger pointing/ chopping blocks are naive and childlike, at this stage.
If we are relegated, let the analysis begin.
If we aren't, all this will be forgotten, subject to a complete reset.

I would offer an ever so slightly tempered opinion to previous posts.

It was a bit messy, to be truthful. Lots of chirping in mid answer which is understandable given the situation but it didn't help the flow of proceedings. Furthermore, lots of differently worded questions that covered the same subjects (including my own I'd hasten to add). However for the most part there was a realisation and agreement that the only way we are going to get out of this is if we muck in together, including the much maligned Wood who, and I mean the rest of the panel, confirmed he isn't solely responsible for this scenario.

Paul Hornby was quieter than I expected but importantly has run the numbers should the worst occur.

A lot to ponder but at the end of the day the answers will sit differently depending on the outcome of this season.

Away from the obvious main discussion about the team and position Can someone summarise the response to key questions

- what was said about Finances. £1.4 m losses last year how can this be sustained?

- investment, anything on the horizon?

- training locations- are they still deemed adequate etc

When the results don't come things can turn sour and like he said in his statement we should have won at Fleetwood and Cheltenham and others however when they didn't fall for us things did turn. We wish him all the best."

Was this expanded on at all, particularly the turning sour part? It reads to me like players were called out by him and told to pull their fingers out of their backsides and didnt like it so went running to the bosses???

They have involvement in recruitment which lead to Dino believing he couldn't change. They must see what we see as fans and surely the sacking of Dino has to relate to how bad the football on show was on Tuesday which was down to how we were set up. They may tell us they have no influence however I'm not sure I believe what they say on that front.

I don’t think sacking the previous Goal Keeping coach went down well with the players

Not quite sure about some people's fixation with Pete Wild as if he's some kind of managerial genius. I enjoyed the first part of his tenure as much as anyone, but it certainly wasn't going well even before the final break, and lets not forget he was sacked by Fleetwood, having not brought them any great success. There's a common assumption about the NDA, but the reality is no one outside the parties involved actually knows the reason behind it. I remember Paul Hornby's RC interview at the time, and he sounded genuinely frustrated that he couldn't say more. As someone else has said, Wild isn't coming back, so there is no point in harping on about it. More immediately we can only wish Sam Foley all the best, and hope that his approach will provide the required miracle!

Wild had better tools at his disposal and messed it up, fed ip of this always going back mentality we have. We never replaced ray, Spence, Campbell and gotts. We replaced that midfield with earring smith and harper who 2/3 are massive gambles. Canavans legs have gone and the frustration is showing. We’ve had a bad injury list to key players, we looked solid on that run when mj Williams came back into the mix.

I think it all comes down to recruitment, I get what they’ve tried to do, I’d say every signing on paper has been good but none of them have materialised apart from McCann. We’ve gambled too much on managers and I don’t think clubs of our size can, a couple of bad windows and a lack of infrastructure or footballing identity and you have an absolute scramble to try and stay up. Just need to get behind them last few games and they can all [SwearFilter] off and enjoy the rest of their careers elsewhere and we keep our league status

Well then you were not listening!Tony Shearer and co were happy to answer any questions put about any aspect of the club,team,performances,responsibilities of CEO who is NOt a director of football and details given by the board as to how they have tried to choose the right players.No excuses made for their mistakes .Apart from the legal limitations about speaking about Pete Wild any subject was open to discussion whether it was financial ,team formations,reason why other managers selected then disposed off ,intentions of the board to see this through ,breakdown of financial figures if we do down and reassurance we we still have a club.Obviously if worst comes to pass will have to be slightly reduced staff but they are hoping that we we may pull it off and stay up,The fact that Wrexham are buying their way up the leagues and the effect that this has had on league clubs being asked for inflated figures of wealth by young unproven players before they will consider joining teams is league 2 has made it very expensive for a lot of clubs to recruit and strengthen.I disagree entirely evasive replies given to tough questions.As I said Only thing limited was Wild matter.As I believe he was responsible for this gagging order he may not have come out of the dispute if their was one smelling of roses.It was acknowledged by board that results had been good during his tenure.Personally I think Evatt was a far better manager .Wild time with Morecambe ended with sack so whilst he was very good with fans he appears not have been infallible.Someone else on here said it would be a toxic meeting sorry to disappoint you all iwas not.The board admitted that they made numerous mistakes and the Wood haters if any bothered to attend would have heard from him Tony Shearer and Paul Hornby of their involvement in trying to recruit correct managers and players.There was a very good turnout at the meeting and numerous questions asked and answers given.Lets all get behind the team for rest of season that’s all we can do.We have I think the hardest run in of the basement clubs.

From what Paul said, and I’m happy to be corrected on any this, the drop in home attendance is costing £10K per match. The £1.4M debt is there but serviceable because of the Owners commitment to the club, commitment that will continue if the worst comes to the worst. If we get relegated we get parachute payments of £750K for first year, then £500K the next, then £250k…again happy to be corrected on this. Also, costs incurred for being part of the EFL obviously won’t be required in the NL so the board’s expectation is for Barrow to be a Top 7 NL club in that fateful scenario.

- Investment…despite the Board’s efforts, it’s not really happening because our location and numbers aren’t that attractive to wannabe club investors, most of whom are after something for nothing in terms of a football club…. personal opinion, would we want a KSI type of investor at our club anyways

- Training location…Unless I missed it, strangely this wasn’t queried but no mention of a change and someone brought up injuries but no link was made to training facilities.

Fair play to all for turning up tonight - noted that a lot of negative keyboard warriors who dish it out on Fb & shout for peoples heads to roll didn’t have the Betty Swollocks to show up tonight, such as the French Ceramicist Physio, etc, etc…cowards!
