Player contracts for 26 - 27
Player contracts for 26 - 27
Happy to be corrected but looks like several players are out of contract this season and several have release clauses if we go down ?
Is anyone actually at the club next season if we get relegated? Esp if we don't have a manager in place.
So has there been any talk / rumours of players being offered contracts or is it purely on if we survive?

Yes several are out of contract but as for release clauses if we go down I’ve not seen or heard anything regarding that. I believe a drop in salary for some still under contract next season has been intimated by the club and Paul Hornby has already crunched the numbers regarding finances in the event of national league football next seasonLCBAFC40 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 9:31 am Happy to be corrected but looks like several players are out of contract this season and several have release clauses if we go down ?

We are going down, I'm absolutely sure of that. We will need experienced players who don't think they are too good for a non-league campaign and who show a semblance of having an ounce of fight in them, along with some youngsters wanting to move up.
Foley could be captain. It's been a while since we had one
Winterbottom could be our keeper if allowed.
Newby is a decent winger and I'll defend him all day.
Rose would be a great spearhead.
Raglan might find his level there
Fletcher, if we could keep him, would be great behind Rose.
McDonald would be a great one to keep.
McCann would be too good for that level so I wouldn't expect us to have him in the roster.
I really hope we could keep Whits. Him and Newbs alternating on the wings would be superb
Other than that, the rest can do one. They aren't what we want or need

The players don’t have release clauses
They have clauses where their wages drop by a % if we go down, they would still be contracted to the club

So basically a release clause then Adam because they ain’t going to stick around for less money in a lower division.

No because a release clause would mean they would leave for free
They would still be contracted to the club therefore if anyone wanted to take them away they would need to pay

Being realistic aside from McCann, Whitfield and Rose I wouldn’t be sorry to see anyone else leave. And I would be amazed if any get football league clubs other than those three. It needs a whole rebuild on and off the pitch whatever league we’re in although almost certainly will be national league now. A couple others may find the national league is their level but I wouldn’t really want anyone else here off what I’ve seen this season.
This team as it is would get torn apart by the likes of York and Rochdale, they’re far superior and we’d be in another relegation battle.

Yes I agree they’d get battered by them but they’re wages are probably double ours.Scott5 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 12:07 pm Being realistic aside from McCann, Whitfield and Rose I wouldn’t be sorry to see anyone else leave. I’d say we’d be lower half Vanarama league with this group of players. Definitely not bothering the play-offs.

He's now scored 5 in the last 2 weeks including 2 in Raith's Challenge Cup Final win today, where he also got Man of the match.SKIPPER wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 11:01 amScored for Raith yesterday !Always Ultra wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 10:57 am I'm looking forward to two more years of Innes Cameron
