So we have still everything to play for and securing 1 or 3 points from the 1 game-in-hand could make all the difference. Our destiny is still in our own hands but we can't expect other teams around us to keep losing - they won't.

They started on the front foot we grew into the game first half. Second half they dominated without really troubling Wyll Stanway but we offered little in the game. Last line of defence Wyll getting it all wrong and it proved costly.
Biggest disappointment of the day was seeing a steward bully a young lad out the ground and being over physical in doing so. I thought we had put that kind of thing behind us

I thought Craig Rutherford was spot on in his post-match comments, saying Stanway would no doubt carry the can for the defeat, but the greater issue was the total inability of our attacking midfielders and strikers to create any sort of scoring opportunity. I certainly can't recall one.

Stanway messed up, yes, but the worrying thing, (or harsh reality) was the lack of response after they scored. There was still 30 minutes to get back into the game and we created next to nothing in that time.

Well one or both of Newport & Harrogate will pick up at least a point on Saturday as they play each other.

Newby had a great chance second half but belted it just over the bar. Should at the very least made the keeper make a save.

Stanway showing the errors of youth but let's be honest he let one goal in and we did nothing to equalise.
The forward line is devoid of a centre forward and midfielder.
I really don't like the way we tried to buy fouls and the players sat on their arses while Chesterfield broke away.
To be honest I would like to see Foley playing.
Even if we stay up this team is a embarrassment.
I remember watching Barrow when we went out of the league and one particular local strutted around as though they were George Best.
These players need a kick up the jacksie.

I think that Stanway will be fully aware of making a mistake ... and so often , when a goalkeeper does that ( and even the best do ) , it can result in a goal ... and a goalkeeper has to put that behind them and get back to doing their usual solid , and often impressive , job , To that end , although there are obviously many supporters who will be disappointed that we lost ( me amongst them ) now is not the time to be too critical of individual players ...as the the outcome is only likely to make them feel worse and even more likely to do it again , particularly at home . Now is the time to get behind the team and encourage them in the attacking third of the field , to keep possession , create a chance or two , and put them in the back of the net ... that will make everyone feel happier , more relaxed and more confident again ...in what looks like being a tight end to the seaon , and one where we really are , as we have a game in hand and have shown in the previous 2 games that we have the skill and the endeavour , in with a good chance of escaping . If one of the teams in the bottom 4 or 5 can put , say , 3 wins in their back pocket between now and the end of the season , then that team is likely to stay in this league ...which is what we all want . Maybe the return of Whitfield will help us meet that target . So come on folks , get behind the team and urge them on in the Football League ... while we all still have the chance ...

The ones in charge now who actually have a footballing brain probably can, but what can we do to change it at this stage

Since we went to a 4-4-2 formation the last 3 games, against top teams Bromley, MK Dons and Chesterfield, we have only conceded 2 goals.
The Bromley one a free kick and yesterdaendersy's a goalkeeper error.
Nothing to do with a lack of pace by our defenders.
Having Williams and Harper just in front of them has really solid them up.

Chesterfield i think were in better form than Bromley and MK when we played them so they were going to be difficult to break down.
Chances were limited and thats being polite, Rose before the (no pen) should have shot at goal. Newby in 2nd half had ages to shoot and puts it over the bar. Personally i think a lot of them lads were knackered after the effort put in on Friday so maybe a few changes were required in starting 11 or at least make subs quicker and not with 10 minutes to go. Having watched the replay of the match I previously thought Canavan was as much to blame for the goal but sadly Stanway has to take that on the chin because taking a touch was a massive no no ! Still stings this morning knowing just a point and we were out of bottom 2 and go 3 unbeaten. Absolutely massive weekend coming up as we go to another in form team and Harrogate play Newport so we need to be in touch with everyone around us before 2 games at home.

One of the best teams I have seen here this year, their passing in the the first half from one wing to another was excellent but did not look like scoring. Barrow keeper did make a mistake and he knows it but he got us that point at MK Dons with that save in the second half, done now we move on to Barnet.
