Dealing With Loss

Post by Wintergreen » Tue Apr 28, 2026 8:51 pm

And now the end is near...well it was good while it lasted generally speaking, but the ‘stars’ didn’t quite align for us. It’s all down to money really and we seem to end up with players who are happy to coast and who would much rather be someplace else. I was a contractor myself for most of my working life and you’d meet people who’d want to coast and milk the job and you’d meet people who’d have a real go and hope to get hired again. Too many of the former and things can go to rat shit and that’s the way human nature works unfortunately. No doubt the Owners are already planning for life in the National League and as I see it, we need the following key appointments:
  • Experienced northern-based 'proper' Manager on a 2-year deal and stick with him/her FFS
  • New experienced, northern-based, vocal and proactive club captain
  • Players of character who ideally want to progress in their careers and no more square pegs in round holes
And for those planning to vent their spleens on Saturday you might want to consider the following:
  • It’s not a good look for adults to be effing and jeffing in front of kids at our family-friendly club
  • Blowing a gasket is bad for you and won’t change a thing
  • You will be applauding some of those players onto the field again in a few months and might risk looking a bit of a hypocrite.

😂
literally just needs the pic and you can hear that song in your head.

Not to bang on about Wild, but at the qna it seemed that there was comment about Ian wood also had some hits by signing Kian Spence, Robbie Gotts, we only got Spence (as far as I know) because he was at Halifax with Wild, (where he had been injured a lot)
Hopefully we can get an upcoming manager who can bring some similar quality with him.

On your last point, nope, we want to make it quite clear we dont want some of them at our club next year, what part of they gave up dont u understand. They literally gave up! Which has cost us or EFL status, all while earning a pretty penny. Plus blowing a gasket is always good for the soul every now and then

So as Lewis has said above, we will do it anyway

Patronising much?
How about you just let people deal with the day as they want to?
And I will effing, jeffing, [SwearFilter], [SwearFilter] and many other things if they deserve it.

The players deserve everything that comes there way on Saturday including Foley with his crap interviews and lucky dip team selections.

To be fair to Foley he's a player, not a manager, and he's been thrown under the bus by a Board who haven't got a clue, or have run out of money, or both!

🤔 I think that was mainly the usual tongue in cheek comments from Wintergreen and is getting the responses he probably expected and perhaps is his way of deflecting some of the blame from some of our so called team members onto himself.
A very Sam Foleyesque thing to do and should be commended.
Now I can’t swear on that being the case but I’m sure there are plenty that will manage to do just that on mine and others behalf. 🤬

I'll do the whole pick up and start again thing.

But not until after Saturday, where plenty will want to have a right go, many who will still start off in September back at the usual outposts backing the side.

Considering there is a LOT to be annoyed about this season, it's only natural that some fans of the club will be vocal on Saturday.

Annoyed at those involved in recruitment, you set us up to fail. The biggest thing that needs sorting over the Summer.

Annoyed at those involved in the management hiring/firing disaster, you got it massively wrong.

Annoyed at the majority of the players for not giving their all. YES WE CAN TELL. YOU DIDN'T.

So yes, one last opportunity for those who are also annoyed, to be vocal about thoughts and feelings.

I respect those who wish to clap. I respect those who wish to be silent. I respect those who wish to be vocal.
