Missing Goalkeepers

Stanway is not a keeper. Never has been. If I had 1000 shots took at me, over a season I'd have a good few saves in me. In the words of Roy Keane it's his job. It's the weak goals that separate keepers from pretending to be a keeper. Be glad to see the back of him bought with alot of hype. Not good enough in the end. Just like the rest of this group of players.

All having a pop at stanway but he is the last line of defense!
Reality is, we've had the ball in the wrong areas all season and was inevitable that we would concede more than we scored..

Football is about scoring more than the opposition, we couldn't score if we played for two days without a break .!!

As annoyed as I am.. is it really stanways fault?

That lad has been thrown under a bus bug time and it's not on.. he's made terrific saves to stop embarrassment and huge scorelines..

The season is a right off.. let's not single out one player, especially when there are ten in front of him who deserve more criticism than he does.

Don't think anyone is singling out one player. Most people are blaming the lot of them.
Stanway always looked dodgy when clearing a backpass and practically threw the ball into his own net on a couple of occasions.
As someone mentioned earlier I would take Farman back over Stanway all day long.

unfortunately for keepers a mistake often gets highlighted and punished. I do think he’s been very unfairly singled out a lot of times. He’s still young and still a bright prospect in the game

What we classing as young? Isnt he like 26?

I liked him, i didnt like farman at all if im honest, but Wyll has cost us alot of points this season, so IMO its not unfair to single him out

They all make mistakes, unfortunately because of our consistent failure to stick it in the net often enough at the other end that put enormous pressure on the defence and we’ve lost a lot of close games. Lowest goal scorers in the league.
In a better team he be a better keeper. I think he’ll be looking to get away anyway which is a great shame because I think he’s a good prospect

Very selective. We may have been the lowest scorers in the league but we let in 78. It’s not like we didn’t have one of the leakiest defences in the league. You are making it out like our defence wasn’t too bad and our relegation was just down to our lack of goals.
It was a collective failure.
Is it only me that thinks training ninety odd miles away from Barrow is a huge hindrance to any progression. Until our training is based on Barrow, I feel that we will never have stability. I hear all the arguments against it, but I’m not sure any other club does this and I don’t think it’s a positive.

Don’t dispute that we’ve leaked a lot of goals in the latter part of the season. Our goal difference right up to the last 10 games was better than all around us but at the other end the goal scoring remained an issue throughout this and last seasons campaign. These are facts. I’m not making it out that it was all down to lack of goals but if you can’t score then don’t concede and in the end we couldn’t do either. So yes a collective failure.

As for training 90 odd miles away, it’s something we have had to do and without it I don’t think we would be able to attract players. That’s something we have to suck up. It doesn’t help that it’s got FC United plastered everywhere with a few token Barrow stickers.
You may have also heard the rumour the players kicked up a fuss when asked to train in Barrow on the day before a Saturday home game. Seems perfectly reasonable for a professional football team to do that but apparently the players didn’t take too kindly to that. ….Dino was soon sent packing. The whole season was a complete and utter disaster from start to finish.

We weren’t the lowest scorers in the league like you say.
Three teams scored less than us.
Two teams let in more than us.
Stop making excuses for the defence. They were just as rubbish as the attack. And about as rubbish as the midfield, full backs and keeper.

training and location is bound to be looked at in summer. Would be great to have more training sessions in Barrow. Didn’t we do this previously the day before home games at HoB.
