George Walker
Re: George Walker
With Shipley off to Boston and Newby to morecambe makes sense to strengthen wing backs nice and early

Re: George Walker
Some of our better players in recent years have come from smaller clubs, no one was exactly thrilled when Kian Spence came in and he turned out okay as someone that Pete Wild trusted. Have to trust in Adam Murrays judgement and give George Walker a chance, it's a big step up yes.
On the other hand we've had ex Championship players who have been absolute flops, lets give them all a chance. Long way to go still.
I'd drive Newby and Shipley out myself but not sure there's any truth in those!

Re: George Walker
Spence was highly rated by Halifax fans who said he would go on to play at a higher level. The issue was he wanted to sign for us in January but Fax wouldn’t let him go so he spat his dummy out and hardly figured for themScott5 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 12:30 pm Some of our better players in recent years have come from smaller clubs, no one was exactly thrilled when Kian Spence came in and he turned out okay as someone that Pete Wild trusted. Never! And hopefully Canavan will get a good reception when he returns with Boston.

Re: George Walker
Wasn’t Ian Evatts title winning formation 3-4-1-2 ?

Re: George Walker
Wing backs are ok if you have actual wing backs; if your just shoehorning players out of position then definitely agree just play a back 4 and wingers

Re: George Walker
Why ???? Can’t tackle can’t head a ball scores minimal goals and misses sitters. The oppositions name escapes me but he couldn’t hit the target with the goal wide open towards the end of a game at home at the back end of last season. Murray’s mantra appears to be big strong athlete type players and Newby isn’t any of those

Re: George Walker
You're a piece of work, yeah at times it was that but most team's played like that, there's been a radical change in how team's play now ,hence we still played that way and not just because we had no right back but it didn't make sense because of this and we paid the ultimate price and got relegated!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 8:46 pmWasn’t Ian Evatts title winning formation 3-4-1-2 ?
Anyway carry on points scoring and perhaps one day you might actually contribute with an idea instead of constantly trying to catch people out !
You're one of these people who come on here but haven't got the guts to actually go to a meeting and challenge people, you critised Paul Hornby but I didn't see anyone say it to his face ( quite rightly)!

Re: George Walker
I've mentioned a few times about the game where he ran back a good 60 yards and tackled the oppo attacker as he was preparing to get a cross over. Agreed, it's not his strongest point, and yes, he blazed over in a game when he should have hit the target, but he should be lauded for being one of the few players who tried in a season of absolute wastrels getting more game time than him. At the start of the season, he and Shipley were ripping opponents apart down the left, and then the 'managers' started [SwearFilter] around with things.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2026 9:47 amWhy ???? Agree.
He's the latest local whipping boy for a certain section.

Re: George Walker
He gets let off with alot because hes local, works both ways in this case.
I for 1 will be happy if hes gone. A fully grown man thats largely scared to tackle or head the ball seals it for me.
Im glad to see we are shipping out last years players that gave up. A few more pretty soon hopefully
