More seriously, we do indeed owe a debt of gratitude to Tony Shearer for his time, work and huge financial contribution, as we do to the other directors.

This has also been the case with Paul Casson, the Keen family, Bill McCulloch and too many others to mention (perhaps including one we would prefer to have forgotten) and many that we will never heard of going back through the distant decades.

Paul Hornby mentioned volunteers in his recent radio interview and gave the example of the GMV's current projects which would not otherwise be possible for the club to take forward. It has always been thus in so many different areas from selling tickets, the tea bar, arranging fixtures, repairs to admin work and finance. Their torch is still held aloft today by individuals and groups such as the Bluebirds' Trust, GMV and the 1901 Heritage team. Not only do all those people benefit the club, they gain benefits to themselves through community, comradeship, involvement and feeling good about doing good.

If you have ever thought I could give that a go but... then do so. Come forward, the 'but' can be overcome.

Moving forward if Tony doesn't invest any more this could have serious consequences, without being melodramatic despite our wonderful volunteers we would struggle to be competitive in the National league never mind the EFL, we'd probably need about 3,500 fans every home game, need to make money out of the stadium and then get major sponsorship, no club nowadays gets anywhere without outside investment the numbers just wouldn't add up !

It's a shame with recent publicity, ala submarine on flag, that some tycoon out there wouldn't fancy a challenge!
If I was a multi millionaire or even better Elon musk, I would prefer taking on a club like ours rather than the usual clubs they go for because we are unique and in the right hands, we have potential.

Back on to Tony, I think thank you just isn't enough for what he has done with the other directors.
Relative stability has been great for us..thanks Tony.

He puts a positive spin all the time he must have the DNA of a politician. After last season I am sceptical of what he said and without any new funding im yet to be convinced

Yes he does but we'll lose £500,000 this season ( unless a cup run), that'll be by his figures £1,000,000 next season and as for the 3rd !!!!, I only care about the clubs future but I'm not going to just bury my head in the sand ,I deal with the facts you can dress it up anyway you like but it's not good!

I’m convinced the shearer leaving story was buried at the end of the positive chairman’s report by design

Will this coming storm take us all the way back to national league north I wonder.
