But they can’t just rip their contracts up - they need a club to come in for them and the club to decide whether they let them go or demand a fee
Not just going to tear contracts up for the hell of it as that would cost the club thousands

Just at the Airport got talking to a fella wearing a Grimsby Town shirt .LCBAFC40 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 8:42 am Shirt numbers mean nothing!
Doesn't mean you'll start if you have numbers 1 - 11 and Doesn't mean you'll still be in the team come KO on 1st match of the season. All teams issue squad numbers so wether you want players to go or not to start matches is irrelevant. We have several players from last season who potentially could go, want to go or under the new manager and with the additions so far might gel into a top of the league team.
The only thing that caught my eye with the numbers is no one has no10 so that could mean we have someone in mind to come in.
Where did I say that ?, I said (according to Paul Hornby)players will take a30%/ 40% pay cut, so from that it means

Let’s be honest any player is coming for the money really it’s a job and a short career. gone are the days of player loyalty and I never buy rubbish like here for the ambition or project.blue nige wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 11:53 amWhere did I say that ?, I said (according to Paul Hornby)players will take a30%/ 40% pay cut, so from that it means
We paid them far too much if they can take a hit like that !
or They're not good enough to get a move
or They're only here for the money and aren't that bothered about the club!
Is that clear enough for you !!!???
Now now that's not very niceBig_Bluebird wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 11:50 am Thoughts are with the Grimsby fan stuck with you in a airport
The only way a player takes a paycut is IF there is a clause in his contract.
Surely any decent contract would have a clause that you can send players out on contract as long as they are paid the same salary .WalneyOne wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2026 7:46 amThe only way a player takes a paycut is IF there is a clause in his contract.
A competent club would ensure it's a standard clause in ALL contracts.......but a competent club wouldn't have 6 or 7 " managers" in a single season.
The highest earners won't be rushing to leave and take a pay cut if their agent was a bettter negotiator then whoever represented the club ; they'll sit on their arses still getting paid.Plus they can't be sent out on loan as that would be a new contract to which they'd have to agree which imo would be unlikely.
So unless the manager can ignite a spark we're stuck with top earners being excessively paid just to train.
It's highly unlikely that there's a loan clause included if
There was a relegation clause each player lost 30 to 40 %WalneyOne wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2026 10:21 amIt's highly unlikely that there's a loan clause included if
they couldn't even include a relegation clause but we're all just speculating as to the terms of the players contracts, and in reality we'll never know.
I don't really care what player X earns, as long as he gives 100%, but as others have said some players look like they can't be @r$ed.
