Re: Wyll Stanway
As long as it’s enough to bring another decent outfield player in
Gods’ former athlete.

Re: Wyll Stanway
It says on the Cheltenham website the figure was reached after protracted negotiations. This suggests we didn't give him away.

Re: Wyll Stanway
Apologies - now corrected.
Re: Wyll Stanway
I think he had to go in the end for his own sake more than anything as it can’t of been easy having constant criticism and scrutiny from many quarters. He may of not always helped himself, but If he farted around town it drew comments.
He did well for us in the main the concussion he sustained clearly affected his game. Good luck to the lad I say. We got a financial return on our initial investment and I’m pretty sure IF Wyll concentrates fully on his football career now on in we will get a further return in years to come.

Re: Wyll Stanway
Cheltenham reporting it was a five figure fee. So it was less than £100k. Chester fans reporting they had a 30% sell on clauseMcMark wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2026 7:16 pm I think he had to go in the end for his own sake more than anything as it can’t of been easy having constant criticism and scrutiny from many quarters. Re: Wyll Stanway
Not a league 2 keeper in my opinion.
But hope he proves me & others wrong he needed to move for his own sake best of luck Wyll.
100k I was told which would be 70k with the 30% sell on Chester have.

Re: Wyll Stanway
Good luck to him, started well enough last season but lost his way and in a terrible team his form and confidence dropped massively and in the end he threw a few in. We’ve got money in and him off the books and he’s got a fresh start so good move for both. I’m sure he’ll have a decent career league 2 maybe if he can get some form back and cut out the mistakes. A lot of clubs were looking so there’s a player in him in the right environment and he’ll mature and get better I’m sure.

Cheers Bylly lad, and good luck at Cheltenham.
I think we’ve got a great deal out of this. Not consistent enough for me, and too many errors which cost us dearly, looking back.
You put Tim Deasy in the sticks instead of him, I think we stay up.

Re: Wyll Stanway
Quality keeper when he’s got an organised defence in front of him and it will show. Probably good for him to get out of barrow for a bit where the spotlights constantly on him in his daily life. A good season at Cheltenham and wouldn’t be surprised to see him step up again
