All his appearances for Linfield were made when he was 15 or 16.... he's 18 now (19 in November) and was named in the Northern Ireland Senior squad in June for 2 friendlies.

Early days yes and no one is daft enough to call for heads at this point but, by the same token we could see the deficiencies last season and nothing was done about it. We’re short upfront and in midfield still that’s as clear as day and the club are working on that. I just think we’re hindered by some players being here feom last season who ideally would be gone, freeing up their wages for new players.
There’s a lot of new players and some new to this level so it’s a big step up and the longer you go on without picking up results the harder it gets. Particularly on the back of a relegation when the place is already a bit flat. Let’s see 9/10 games in where we are but we need to be a lot better than we were on Saturday.

I agree 100%. The bit I don’t get though is that on Saturday both Marriot and Reid two new signings were on the bench replaced by players who ultimately failed last season and should not have been anywhere near Saturdays starting eleven imo

Agreed in fact I was amazed that Cameron started. Smith too he’s not done much for us bar collect yellow cards that’s one thing he’s good at. The same midfield that was so ineffective last season and obviously needs bolstering. I’d hope we’re still looking but I’d be surprised if Marriott, Reid aren’t in the eleven on Saturday and expect (hope) to see Earing, Barkhuizen and Kouyate moving on. I’d personally add Cameron and Smith to that but Murray obviously rates them!

Well he had a lousy record till he came to Barrow.
When we signed Rooney I thought no way but under Evatt he was outstanding.
Quigley got us up and then kept us up.
I understand we have players on our books not upto it but some dummy gave them a long contract.
Cameron tries but to slow to react.
For those who say give them a chance they had a whole season last year
Murray has got them fit which last season they were not
Harper is useless and after last season he should only allowed in the dressing room to polish boots.
There is nothing special in this league .
Just if we want it enough and keep Harper and Cameron out of the team.

Just a word in favour of Smith. He has aggression and gets stuck in, which we need in midfield. One incident from Hartlepool sticks in my mind: after one of our attacks a Pools player was breaking forward with the ball the half way line, looking dangerous, when Smith who was chasing, made a brilliant, clean tackle and won the ball. I might also add that he was the one who was on hand to put the ball in the net after the keeper parried a shot - though marginally offside! I can see why Murray likes him.
