Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
I didn't think the reaction was warranted last week but it certainly was today. The game panned out as 95% of games did last season. Worrying.
Murray scathing in his interview, interested to who he's referring to in terms of his "the club in general" comments.
Headscratching team selection, given the options we had on the bench.

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Why was Jackson playing out left ,which meant Cranshaw was playing ( i don't know) those 2 central defender's were shocking I'd put Raglan back in !, George Walker is too weak as is Oakley, people flagged Stanway well what about Winterbottom he's an accident waiting to happen, the Midfield consists of Williams by himself, we take off Danny Amos who's the best defender we have, at times I didn't know what formation we were playing no intensity apart from first 10 minutes and last 20 ,we looked really poor and I don't know where we go from here!!!
Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Has to be our midfield Williams and Smith, Harper last week and you can add Jackson to that. There is a hang over from last season and as AM just said he’s being hampered by players here on good money who aren’t good enough and he can’t move on. I like his honesty and no nonsense manner. Some players told to buck up and man up. Reid out for a while it seems and missed out on another target this week who went to a league club. Trying to get more players in but seems very much like some need to leave first.
Only Marriott and Latty seemed to get any praise from him today and that’s probably fair.
Talk of some players talking the talk but not walking the walk - same as last year!

If we were a country we would be Turgidstan.
At least Murray saw what we saw judging by his interview with Adam. He needs to act on this.
We have Harrogate next and we never get anything there.

I am more concerned at the reaction of the fans- you could sense the frustration during the game, we all heard the boos at the end. All fans want after last season is to enjoy going to the game again and have something to cheer about at the end. I saw every home game pre season, and thought - yep we are looking good, but when it matters we’ve blown the most important game of the first half dozen fixtures. I hope this is not going to be a false dawn. You’ve got to show purpose first home game in front of a home crowd, sadly some will have made their mind up already.AugustusCorpa wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 5:32 pmAgree, if you were serious about going up you’d expect to beat a newly promoted team at home.

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Don’t want to worry as only two games in, but if we don’t start winning the rot sets in and before long an uphill battle begins. Haven’t watched a game yet due to work so can’t comment on players really, but looks like we haven’t improved on personnel from last season. Going to be a long season ……
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Awful performance against relegation favourites we defo lack a creative midfielder and a forward who can score disappointment again is all i can say we look a poor side early days but we need a win asap I can't see it coming at Harrogate, our recruitment looks poor again unfortunately lets see where we are after 6 games I fear it could be lower midtable and the manager out voices will start no doubt

I get That were stuck with certain player's but we can't keep using this as an excuse or we'll be in conference north ,irrespective of our situation with these players we were promised a top 10 budget and if it's been spent already then we have recruited really badly these are Murray's player's who he enthused about, apart from Marriot I'm not impressed!!

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Just listened to Murray. Seems like the attitude of some of the players is already being questioned. ‘Nodding dogs’ as he put it .. worrying that he perhaps can’t trust some of his newly assembled team.
Quality aside, which is yet to be seen, any team that does well at this level needs characters who will run through brick walls for the manager. I wonder if Murray truly believes he has that from this group.
Some tough conversations will be had during the week it seems but already feels like a disharmony could set in.

We had three good chances today. Scuffed the lot of them

Innes too isolated, wingers not good enough. Link between midfield and attack non existent.
