Quite enjoyed today, the effort in comparison from last season is night and day.

It’s the National League, it’s shit football, Roll your sleeves up and have a go. Folk soiling themselves every time we’re not playing football like PSG need to get a grip, the entitlement is off the scale at times. The fight is there which is enough for now. Something to build on.

League 2 wasn’t exactly great football either I watched Cheltenham v Swindon after our match and it wasn’t a great spectacle. Still annoys me that in a poor division we didn’t even need to be that great to survive...

There’s playing direct and causing problems which we did today, but you also need to have an element of control and someone in midfield to get on the ball - hopefully Ward is this man. We have some big players and will play to our strengths. I’d rather have Innes Cameron as limited as he may be, than a crock or has been like Walker and Hemmings.

Fight and effort and desire should be a minimum and we saw that today at the end. A lot of the play at times and quality on the ball can be questioned. Not convinced by Oakley although hopefully his injury isn’t too bad? To play good football you need to earn tje right and win the battle first as they say. Today we probably just about won the battle. I’m hoping in time the football will improve but right now we need results so will take them however they come.

Good result ... especially when you consider that 'on paper' it was Position 1 at home to Position 22 ... and a result coming back from being a goal down which was the type of result that we rarely achieved last season ... There was obviously a determination to come back and to take something from the game even after going behind around minute 85 . Last season , around that time , or later , we were almost guaranteed to let in a late goal or two and come home and end up with nothing to show pointwise. ... a long period of similar scores led to our fall in the league table and eventual relegation ... so ... good progress ...hopefully indicative of a better attitude ...and more of the same will definitely help to build confidence ...both amongst the team ...and amongst the supporters . Well done to all ... We now have something to build on.

Well done management and team.Last season we would have collapsed when second goal went in.Think although there is still loads of room for improvement we do seem to be trying to win and although we lost last home game thought we were much improved in the first half performance than last years games.It will be physical and scrappy in this league and we have to
Match this with controlled aggression to get results.Redults at moment more important than style.Need to give team confidence and keep score card ticking over with wind and draws and be difficult to best.Stillma work in progress.When we have mastered win ugly we can move on to pleasing on the eye stuff which people on here will love to see.

I think it’s easy to fall into the trap of using the promotion “tikka taka team” from season 6 years ago as the bench mark needed to go up again. EFL is where the money is, especially with this new premier league deal announced in July and with our parachute payment diluting along with TS backing, we need to get back sooner rather than later.

If we win ugly, no one moans, hopefully we start picking up points soon.

A draw at Horrorgate is a good result any season, any league and to come from behind twice? That is pretty unprecedented in recent times. Looking forward to Friday night now - could be a classic encounter. Incidentally, if you look at yesterday's highlights on a small screen phone it looks like an animated bag of liquorice allsorts. Looking at the highlights, the Harrogate keeper was beaten at the near post by Walker's shot too. It was almost over the line before the defender put it into the net.

I just don’t get this thing about the style of play. Today was about getting something on the back of two defeats, against a team who have had two wins and scored eight goals? It was always going to be about rolling the sleeves up. Don’t be sucked into this narrative that we played some sort of rough house tactics and therefore stopped them playing some kind of slick passing game. He got his tactics and game plan spot on but above that but the team showed plenty of character and I thought it was a decent game. We need that spirit every game. Let’s hope it kick starts our season.

Regarding the challenge on Marcel Oakley.Can the video of the tackle on him not be sent to the relevant authority.Surely if its adjudged to be dangerous play bordering on assault their should be some sort of ban given to their player.He showed intent when he went in with a straight leg challenge intending to injure our player.I don,t care if people say if nothing can be done as the ref didn,t penalise their player. There have been occasions in the past where after a video review players have been punished.I think the club should put in an appeal along with the video of the challenge.

We had one years ago where video evidence was used, and our player - James Cotterill ended up behind bars following a punch. I think it had been on MOTD.

The National league can hand out retrospective punishments like the EFL do. Last year in the EFL IIRC Ben Whitfield was given one last season following the home game against Fleetwood.

We certainly deserved something out of the game, we would have crumbled had that been last season, Harrogate's 1st goal was horrendous from a barrow point of view their player certainly shouldn't have been allowed to carry the ball from where he started & definitely shouldn't have been allowed to get his shot off, Apart from that a positive point earned. Playing wise i think we need to keep the ball on the deck more, far to many balls were wasted instead of playing the simple ball and trying to keep possession.
