Re: Kidderminster harriers v Barrow match thread
Thought we were excellent first half and then lacked a bit of quality second half.
Crankshaw going off changed the games flow a little bit.
I think we have a winning run in us once we get going. Football can be like this. Little things not going for us but our fortunes will change.
Dan Mooney and a loan striker incoming

I don't have and don't intend to have DAZN - my choice. But how many on here watched the game on DAZN or went to the game (I believe over 200 made the trip). I will never make a comment regarding the team unless I saw the game - so how many of you on here watched the game? If you did fair enough with your opinions - if you didn't why make a comment on a game you didn't see.
My only view is from watching some National League games last season & it was really boring and lacking in quality (and I include watching Boreham Wood in that) so I do agree with the comments regarding the quality of play generally in this league - its pretty dire.

Our defence is agricultural at best and in need of a decent ball playing centre half to play out and fill the recurring hole at the center of defence. At this level that would cover it.
Midfield is generally OK . I like Marriot and Ward ...but I think MJ is over rated and Harper inconsistent but both should be good enough at this level.
Upfront , Rose and Whitfield are ineffective passengers . Walker is too weak and I'm not even sure what Latty Faiweather is supposed to be other than not very good.
Campbell should pick goals up at this level if he keeps chugging along and Reid looks good at times.
I'm still confident that Murray is the right manager but needs time to build a solid squad .
Its going to be a scrap till the end though.

An exciting 7 goals over 5 seasons. Look forward to that solving our goalscoring problems and getting the fans off their seats

More shite. Teams bang in trouble. If you plan a is to stop the other team playing you’re in for a long old season. Not saying sack the manager but I don’t see where it gets better. Still making the same old mistakes time after time after time. Can’t even blame the old set of stiffs as the new lot are just as bad

no positives from that whatsoever

After last seasons regular sacking of managers I'd like to think Murray will be given a fair amount of time.
His perseverance with Walker and Lati-Fairweather is baffling. They alone will cost him his job if he keeps selecting them.

I didn't think it was possible to have a team worse than last season's but this one has cracked it. Today we played a team as bad as ourselves. They had no forward with pace or skill, no creativity at all in midfield and cumbersome defenders. However, we have exactly the same problems. Either our budget for players was bottom of the league level or the manager has as much idea of judging a player as the man in the moon. We now have a team made up of several players putting in zero effort, combined with an even larger number with absolutely no skill. The only saving grace is that judging by the 5 teams we've already played they are so bad that we just might find 4 others bad enough to finish below us but with the current players it will be mighty close!

We’re no better off than last season in that we’ve got nothing at right back and already teams are playing down their left against us.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 4:04 pmI said Oakley was too weak first time I saw him against Blackpool, He was at fault for Hartlepools first against us ,he goes too far up and is constantly out of position!Scott5 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 3:46 pm Didn’t get the second at 1-0
And then after being kicked off the pitch and Crankshaw limping off we gift them
One right on halftime. Still haven’t got a right back Oakley far too weak let his man by far too easily and then we didn’t pick up the man at the far post. We’d been in control really until then and now we look all over the place. The mentality and mindset is not right. Too easy to play against they’ve not had to do anything.
Tbh I think it’s a miracle we got a point in the end the amount of times we let Kidderminster in and a better team would’ve punished us - Digie being culpable on a few occasions. For a big nasty fouling team we are easy to play through and score against. We lack quality on the ball other than Ward and Marriott, and crankshaw who was on the end of a horrendous tackle and hopefully isn’t too bad. This isn’t a good league, Kidderminster weren’t great but they could’ve won and had the one just after the equaliser gone in and not hit the post, I don’t think we’d have come back.
There’s something not right - the way we drop off and wilt like last season again under the slightest pressure. The style of football can be forgiven if it’s getting results, it’s not and after some encouragement against Yeovil, I’ve gone away today thinking we’re actually worse than I thought. Digie wants to start defending instead of wrestling people he’s a liability, Kalambayi I like his commitment but both are poor on the ball and it’s left to MJ to pick it up and hit it long.
Ward looks a class above and very tidy in there with Marriott but have to agree with others I’m not sure MJ is cutting it. Harper came on strolled around and offered nothing bar a ridiculous yellow. Rose looked lively but long balls in the air aren’t his thing even though he wins a few for his size, and I like the look of Reid but we need more playing off him.
Talk of another striker but if I’m Murray I’m after another central defender first because ours aren’t up to it sorry. Both full backs get caught out defensively - Oakley was relegated from National north last season and looks out of his depth. Yes still early days but there a clearly a few in there not up to the job. At this rate it’s another relegation battle I’m afraid.

Eleven of Murrays 12 signings took part in that game today and agree we look worse than last Season, add to that Rose Whitfield & Harper who came on and contributed absolutely nothing can`t even blame Jackson Smith or Earing today, this is a very poor squad of players and unless big changes are made(but can`t see Hornby splashing out more money) we are in big trouble, how can players train all week but on match day can`t even play basic football, think we are heading for Sub 2,000 crowds with this lot, just glad Kidderminster didn`t score 2nd half.

One Swallow doth not make a summer Russell. The level is the level we just need to adapt and the sooner the better. Surprised at the Mooney incoming if it happens as there are far more important areas that need addressing than our wingers.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 6:55 pm I didn't think it was possible to have a team worse than last season's but this one has cracked it.
