What has gone wrong, Who’s to blame

As we all are aware the last 18 months has been a Disaster for our beloved football team. last Tuesday v Solihull was a 4xing disgrace. The performance and ability on display was shocking. Who is in ultimate charge of affairs here? Because it’s heartbreaking and like we are being sabotaged from WITHIN..Im just a fan who turns up most games H&A and canttake too much more.. Im not looking for trouble. Just sime educated answers

There is no one thing……football fortunes can change very quickly. One moment you’re top of the EFL2, lining up to play Chelsea in the Carabao cup, next thing you're licking your wounds getting beat at Solihull. Thats the game. Results and outcome aren't guaranteed.

Because we are not allowed to know the truth (terrible case of mismanagement to let it get to the stage of an NDA being used) I can only guess, but I am of the opinion that the persons to blame are those who backed Iain Wood rather than Pete Wild.
That could be completely wrong but, in the absence of any fact from those involved, that's how it looks to me.
If anybody wants to tell me that I definitely have it wrong, then surely that would mean the NDA has been broken by someone.

A series of poor decisions in recruitment both of players and managers.
Andy Whing set us up to fail last summer with dreadful recruitment and had totally lost it long before he was sacked, which should’ve been sooner. Look at Brackley today…
You could even go back to the previous summer though and Stephen Clemence, an odd appointment at the time after Pete Wild and one that never looked like it would work.
However after that we still had time to salvage it but the appointment of Paul Gallagher was almost as bizarre as Michael Jolley and was never going to work. Maamria was a total panic and when that went wrong we turned to someone internal a player who was absolutely lost in the role. Total desperation and no thought process behind any of them.

Iain Wood was given free reign to our detriment but some of the decisions from Hornby over the years have been baffling and quite scary. David Dunn, Phil Brown, Paul Gallagher…I think most fans knew from day one those weren’t going to work. I think it’s fair to say he’s very naive in running a football club.

We got given a great opportunity in getting up and have wasted god knows how much money on players and managers with precious little to show for it other than a few good memories.

Since then bar Wild who as Hoss said should have stayed obviously it’s been bad appointment after bad appointment. Would love to see a total of how much we’ve paid out on hiring and firing managers

What's gone wrong is we had good naive people who could not spot charlatans.
We've seen this in all walks if life .BAE is full of good talkers who fail to perform.
FGH is the same the CEO Cummins success was closing ICU ,remove dentistry from FGH ,transfer patients to other hospitals like Kendal.
The reward for failure he got promoted to the body closing ICU down, his salary etc for failure £500,000 +.
Basically I think Paul Hornby is naive but very good intentioned.
In his business figures have to add up or he sees the problem.
He will have less interaction with people.
Murray has succeeded previously lets hope he has not hit the ceiling career wise.

I had high hopes pre season but how wrong was I.
We have to be realistic money will be short and we have seen less well paid players come in
Let's hope we can succeed.

Hornby and CO have good intentions.

Recruitment. The closest we’ve come to any sort of stability since evatt left us quite late on in pre season has been under wild. We’ve been chasing our tales since he got the boot

We replaced the creativity and work ethic of gotts, Spence and Campbell and replaced them with stiff holding midfielders and then wonder why we can’t forge any chances.

You even look at good squad players we had around like kay, white, Taylor, neal. They’d walk into our team now and probably last years too.

We’ve chucked good money at any old c*nt that walks through our doors and cons the so called brains running the club, employed a bunch of charlatans and that’s what’s done us in.

You see it in any business in the country, a couple of dud hires in important positions can absolutely damage a company and footballs no different.

Pains me to say this as we have a lot be grateful for, mainly their funding of the club as there wouldn't be one otherwise, but the issues start at the top. As I said on another post we don't have an identity, model or principles (add any further modern football jargon you wish) in the approach. It's just a reactive, month to month, season to season operation. Any time we've had an element of stability, we've ripped it up and started afresh. We have no structure and are set up to fail, hence why we've had a merry go round of managers the 95% of them can't make it work.

The six years in the FL was almost a bonus really, a generational and unexpected opportunity to improve the foundations of the footballing operation with income we never thought would come our way. But other than some improvements to the ground from a matchday perspective and improved attendances, more families coming etc, we've got nothing to show for it. I wasn't naive enough to think we'd stay in League Two forever but I thought at least we'd build some infrastructure that would benefit the club and leave us in a better position long term. The footballing elements haven't moved on from the Casson era, or maybe even before. I dread to think how much money got wasted sacking managers, then recruiting the players that the replacement wanted, that could have been spent on something fruitful for the long term.

Well said Matty, even when we were in the EFL , I always felt that as a club we didn't appear to understand that we were actually a part of it, we should ( if we'd planned) be easily a mid table team but then we kept hearing we want league 1 etc when as others have pointed out we were still very much non league, it's disheartening and scandalous to see where we are now and the future is looking bleak, not being defeatist just realism.
We're at a crossroads now ,the board need new blood to help them out .
We need to be clear and concise on what we want, where we are now and how we're going to prosper!

We need some honesty from Hornby not spin. No disrespect to Adam Johnson who does a great job but I’ve found Hornbys interviews patronising and akin to MP speak

The reality is we just can’t keep throwing the dice that would also kill us, I feel the same heartache as we all do blind faith it may be but for me the club need our backing in this transitional period.
