Re: Barrow v Gloucester City match thread
Yep well done Gloucester you more than deserved that draw.
Your game plan worked perfectly against us so credit where it’s due, have safe journey home and we’ll see you Tuesday where I’m sure we’ll give a better account of ourselves.
Barrow never stopped so can’t fault the effort it just wasn’t going to be our day, brilliant save by keeper from Thommos Exocet.
I was in the stand but told by Holker ender that was deffo a pen.
Onwards and upwards still undefeated six games.

Ridiculous decision not to award that penalty for the challenge on Lane to then send him off the icing on the cake.

Just because it was a poor performance and poor game doesn’t mean we have to turn everything into a massive negative and make the world end.
We get another opportunity Tuesday to keep the momentum going and go 7 unbeaten

Poor second half honestly thought Marriott should have come on ,Gloucester ruined the game with their constant time wasting and play acting, the referee was so poor lane sent off for diving when it looked a stone wall penalty and when Allen was through pulled back and the guy only got a yellow, needs to change it Tuesday it was far too slow!

I fancy us strongly in the replay. They are at home probably come out more giving us space to exploit.LewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2026 5:33 pm Just because it was a poor performance and poor game doesn’t mean we have to turn everything into a massive negative and make the world end.

Re: Barrow v Gloucester City match thread
Do we get the same ref to give a repeat performance on Tuesday?
Re: Barrow v Gloucester City match thread
Typical cup tie
Scrappy game, their keeper made 3 great saves, 1 goal ruled out and looked a pen and not given so we've had the better chances but still in.the draw. Hopefully a better performance in the away game.
Ref utter shocking today, very very poor and with all the stopping to chat after every foul and subs he plays 5 minutes injury time!!!!

Only real positive is we’re still in the draw on Monday could’ve easily lost that. They had moments on the counter, defended for their lives and apart from a 20 minute spell in the the first half where we were on top and it seemed inevitable that we would score, we didn’t trouble them anywhere near enough.
Too slow and laboured, didn’t put the ball in the box enough and looked like we wanted to walk it in at times. Reid shouldve had two goals and if we scored it would have been a different game then.
Credit to Gloucester they grew in confidence and got better as the game went on.
Less said about the referee the better, awful fpr both teams. Sadly it won’t entice many to come back for the next match and I’d fancy us in the replay (this Tuesday?) but we’ll need to be a lot better…
This might actually be a good thing and act as a little reminder we’ve still a lot of work to do.

Referee needs genuinely sacking, ex prem, no wonder hes EX..... not fit at all, how he can book Lane after getting wiped out in the box is disgraceful alongside his antics, you could just tell he was looking for any excuse to have a player off in this game, glad he got some pelters at the end by the tunnel as it was not impartial and he needs to be back at a job centre tomorrow.

Who was he? Dreadful for both sides I thought and missed so much and then blew for innocuous things.CH BAFC wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2026 5:51 pm Referee needs genuinely sacking, ex prem, no wonder hes EX..... not fit at all, how he can book Lane after getting wiped out in the box is disgraceful alongside his antics, you could just tell he was looking for any excuse to have a player off in this game, glad he got some pelters at the end by the tunnel as it was not impartial and he needs to be back at a job centre tomorrow.

Couldn't make it today, but a timely reminder we wont get it all our own way against anyone. Lets hope we get the job done in the replay (3g pitch). One of those refs eh….Micky Lane sendoff sounds harsh.

Re: Barrow v Gloucester City match thread
We started off with Winterbottom, Oakley, Alimi-Adetoro, Edwards, Digie, Reid, Thompson, Mooney, Harper, Benjamin and Latty-Fairweather. Just after the hour, Cameron and Lane came on for Reid and Mooney. Ten minutes later, Ward, then Allen and Amos replaced Edwards, Latty-Fairweather and Harper. Despite the strength of the starting eleven and their eepalcements, we were unable to breakdown a resilient and disciplined Gloucester side.
However, without making excuses, it has to be said the referee showed more leniency towards the visitors than the Bluebirds!
We had much more possession than Gloucester, and won 8 corners to their none in the first half, along with several free kicks. Sadly little came of any of them ,and Gloucester’s occasional breakways were proving just as effective.
Harper won our first corner in the 8th minute but the kick was played short to Edwards and came to nothing.
Edwards was booked in the 12th minute for a foul on Gloucester’s No.7 but No.9’s free kick was saved by Winterbottom.
Another short Barrow corner was then easily dealt with as was a direct one shortly after.
In the 21st minute Thompson was fouled but his free kick was blocked. Another two corners and a shot across goal came to nothing.
In the 29th minute, Gloucester broke away, No.12 winning the ball from Harper and No.9 taking a shot straight at Winterbottom.
Two minutes later, a Thompson shot was saved at the other end. A minute later, Mooney was fouled and his free kick was tipped over by the Gloucester goalie who had an excellent game. He then tipped over an Edwards corner.
A Mooney corner resulted in a shot being placed wide.
As we struggled to make inroads, Gloucester sensed another opportunity in the 37th minute as a cross by No.12 was cleared by Latty-Fairweather.
A run and shot by their No.20 at Winterbottom in the 45th minute showed again the danger despite our possession, and the half finished 0-0.
We did have the ball in the net six minutes into the second half, but Mooney’s pass forward found Harper in an offside position. Another Mooney/Harper combination effort was then blocked.
Gloucester No.6 was booked for a foul on Harper in the 58th minute and they made a substitution, No.16 replacing No.20. Our first changes were then made with Cameron and Lane entering the field.
A shot from the right by their No.3 was then saved by Winterbottom, who was awarded our man of the match! No.3’s long throws were also creating a bit of panic at times.
A poor Winterbottom clearance in the 68th minute resulted in a shot by Gloucester’s No.16 which went over.
Further substitutions were then made by both teams, No.14 replaced No.13 and Amos and Allen came on.
In the 78th minute, Digie was booked and a minute later his overhead kick went wide.
In the 81st minute the visitors won their first corner of the game which was cleared. No.8 then replaced No.7.
A breakaway by Gloucester’s No.9 in the 85th minute was brought to a halt by Lane who was carded. Three minutes later, Lane was tripped in the area and the crowd thought this was a stonewall penalty. Whether it was adjudged as a dive, or Lane argued is not clear, but he received a second yellow and left the pitch.
A controversial end to a tough game for both teams. Gloucester’s No.19 replaced No.9 just after 5 minutes of added time was announced. Their No.17 was carded in the 95th minute for a foul on Allen. Thompson’s 96th minute free kick was heading for the top of the goal but the Gloucester goalie acrobatically earned the visitors a well-deserved replay.
