Maybe players cant buy into the vision of a bottom half/relegation battle, shit hole to play at every other week and a support that is average at this level.

Or we are not offering enough money.

Think you're wide of the mark there and something you've alluded to before.

These ex-league clubs think they are better than they actually are.
It's NOT Lincoln people or Lincoln City it's the journalist who wrote the report. Having just read that report, I have to say the guy who wrote it comes across as a below average 'Hack'. Anybody who has been involved in any form of jounalistic reporting will get my drift...

I wouldn't get too upset with Lincoln (their fans or the club). The Lincoln 'Sports Reporter' :? reminds me of the idiot who recently declared his views on the Atherstone Facebook page...

Why would the word be out "don't go there" what a nonsense thing to say - it's a typical Barrow victim thing to say - nobody likes us our towns a dump the grounds rubbish it's windy - Barrow AFC and the Barrow as a town has a lot to offer we might get somewhere when the people of Barrow actually start to believe that.

You need to get in the real world!

you attack a suggestion, then go on with a rant!

A few facts,i`m proud of where i come from but i am also a realist!

the town centre is shabby etc,the ground is out of date and lacks basic ammenities,travel/training this has to be a stumbling block!

At the beginning of the season instead of acknowledging a tough league we say we`re looking at the playoffs hey i`m not against wanting to get on but how do you think this comment went with the other national league chairnan? they will play hard ball if you want a player!

please if you are going to criticise think about your reply!,the irony is if someone said your comments were "nonsense" the "toys would be out of the pram"!

Like yours are now ..

Tell me why would the word be out to players not to go to Barrow? Or did you mean to clubs not to let us have players?

Barrow as a town and Barrow AFC believes it's not entitled to be better than it is and whilst others towns have changed Barrow has stood still - I'm proud of where I am from and I can bore the best of them with the positives about Barrow. We allow others to poke fun at us.

If the players we are after don't want to come I'm sure its for many different reasons.

And in terms of resources the wage bill at this club this season will be up there with the best of them so why shouldn't we chairman have some ambition - oh I know because we are Barrow why should we have success.

I agree a vision needs to be in place so player can see where we want to go at the moment it's all rather wooly.

The Insular Peninsula effect, Barrovians do tend to dwell on the negatives instead of the positives, We have plenty of goods things around.

A lot of clubs struggle to get players in this window, far easier in the summer, We are in transition and many will come and go as they serve a purpose, strap I and enjoy the ride.

If a town and its residents are exuding confidence then it will start to filter outside of the place and perceptions will gradually change over time and then players might be more keen on coming to Barrow, however, I think the problem is that a lot of players won't know anything about Barrow good or bad, your average footballer won't have a clue where it is.

Your average footballer has probably had to travel here at one time or another and may have spoken to players that have played here in darker times.

Barrow In Furness won't be considered a good prospect to somene who has offers from teams at the same level a lot closer to home. Its time to face that fact and stop kidding ourselves.

The main incentive for top class players at this level to come here will be money. Which is just far too risky to throw around at this level.

In my opinion its likely to be your older players that have been around the block a few times that will be thinking more about the cash. Younger lads like Jordan Williams who are stepping up a league or two will have a more open mind about being given the chance to step up and turn full time pro and prove themselves to the club. These are the type of players we need to be attracting.(job for the scouts)Of course we still need a few older pro,s with that extra quality and i,m sure we will get them. Lots of players that have come to HS through out the years have always mentioned what a good set up we have. At the end of the day if the manager and club cant sell itself to a potential target so be it. If they need their arm twisting up their back to join us then they aint for us. :skill:

Absolutely spot on this. We have had enough of those money grabbers over the years. Those who we know have been good players at other clubs and many who have been decent after leaving us. Yet when they have turned out for us, have been absolutely garbage. WHY? No idea for certain but it has to be as Paul Cox keeps reminding us "the culture of the club, what it portrays and has historically tolerated". Change that and we have a chance. Really pleased to hear him talking about not worrying about the opposition and that itself has been a culture itself with whoever has been in charge over the past few years. Dare I say, he actually sounds like a 'proper' manager and comes across superbly. Again something we have not had for a long time. I only hope that he can change the way players view the club and manages to get a couple of well respected and quality players who come in, make an impact and have some positive things to say about the club. That itself will help attract others. If he can do this, I honestly feel Paul Cox could be the man to finally turn this club around. It may not happen overnight but it will happen. The next couple of signings are crucial in terms of showing we can attract good players and intent for next season.
