"George Ray, he made some fantastic blocks and mention him particularly because of his ups and downs last season. Good day out and excellent voal backing from the Barrow support."
Agreed, George was immense, he really was but when he had his downs last season McClelland was there to steady it a bit.
Having said that the defence looked good on Saturday.
IMO George Ray looks a different player playing in the middle of a back three with Feely and Canavan either side of him. The times he looked exposed last season was when McClelland was injured and we played a flat back 4 with Warren at right back. The away game at Carlisle being a classic example.
Main Stand that is an excellent observation. He looks so much better this season and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it having watched the preseason games and Saturday’s match. It’s amazing how one slight change can change a player.

To be fair I though he looked much improved towards the end of last season when Wild was experimenting with a back 3 with 2 wingbacks.

Re their penalty and only from what I could see on the replays. Think the problem was that Feely left his foot out and his body shape was visibly poor. Player could easily seek contact and make it look convincing.

There has been a lot said about Ray and one or two others but I would like to mention Farman who made some very brave saves at the feet of the attackers in the last 20 minutes to keep our 3 points.

Spot on he was alive and alert. His save in the first half after Feely sold him short with a back pass was excellent and he came out to help sweep up behind the back 3 on a number of occasions

He punched a few crosses too.

Yes he seems to have grown as a player and learnt from past mistakes..
I laugh when he rolls around on the floor time wasting.

The refs don't now - they just add the time on! :)
