Their goal, Vassal gets a slight clip goes down like a tonne of bricks, gets nothing and the striker pops it in our net. Both teams were poor, hardly a classic derby, I thought Harrison Neil was the stand out player for them, who “learned a lot at Barrow” gutted for Dallas as it was a good instinctive header to get it down into the ground to trick the keeper.

He didn't want to stay, we didn't let him go. One game lost and everyone is losing their shit wow
I remember the early days of Ben at Barrow and thinking wow! However, as time went on he would go missing in games then be subbed, then he became an impact-type player with little effect generally speaking. He's copped a great opportunity for this term so good luck to the lad and I hope he can maintain his focus this time around.

One thing I didn't know wether to mention or not was my opinion on some of the barrow fans at the back of the stand yesterday. Some of the stuff being shouted at the Carlisle lot in their box went beyond rivalry banter I thought. Nothing big or clever about it just embarrassing the club as far as I'm concerned

If you want to go fight chavs craic on it is what it is but if 40 odd year old women by themselves is the sort of people you wanna hurl abuse at to feel good maybe you want to have a look in the mirror yourself

Just a final word in yesterday, I’m liking our new manager, but am slightly concerned in his reluctance to use Sam Foley,an excellent player in my opinion. Yesterday’s second half was perfect for his introduction, he wins possession well, but also makes quick defence breaking runs. I do hope the manager doesn’t fancy him, he’s talented.

Just a couple of notes on yesterday from a Carlisle fan here.
Thought we were the better side in the first half and a tight even affair in the second.
Thought the negatives towards Eccleston on here was a bit harsh, stuck to his task well and never shirked despite being clattered a couple of times by Vela and Davies. A couple of tidy little midfielders you have in there, although 'little' might be the worrying word in this division, thought the big lad up front wasn't great, however he had very little service and was feeding off scraps for most of the game.
As far as 'our' goal was concerned, Adu-Adjei actually never touched your defender, your lad slipped, we could see it as clear as day as it happened right in front of us.
Looking again at that goal, not really sure what Farman was doing, it actually looked like he pulled his hands away as it flew past him, maybe it was the angle, however it looked a bit dodgy from where we were standing.
Difficult to say from our angle about 'your offside goal', however the reaction from your fans and players for that matter tells a story, there was very little angst towards the linesman and only a couple of your players made a half-arsed appeal, suggesting that it 'was' offside. Anyway glad we've got that little Monkey off our back (it's been 10.5 Months since we've won a competitive game on a Saturday.......yikes!!!!!)
Have to say I kind of object to our team being called 'poor' on here, however I know we're not great but after the year and a bit we've just had, I'm sure people can understand that we may get a bit nervous during the embers of a game, and hopefully the confidence will come flooding back.
Anyway best of luck for the season except of course when you play us Northerners next year on the 1st of March, and I'll see you down there, providing I get a ticket'.

A very thoughtful analysis bluedevil. I think the use of the word “poor” is more reflective of the match itself than a considered view of Carlisle’s performance. The match was poor, everybody was therefore poor etc. etc.

Being a diehard bluebird it’s difficult to be totally objective about the opposition. All I would say is that on the pitch, Carlisle seem to have a fair way to go to be considered a shoe- in for promotion again. Very early in the season but there already appear to be more dangerous squads out there. Squads that could have done more damage on the day than ours.

Tactically I think we got it wrong at the weekend. It felt like this was partly a case of one manager who knew the opposition well playing one who did not. Clemence seems to be a pretty logical being. Simpson is a little more instinctive and in a derby this early in the season it pays to have an instinct.

Problem there is who’s buying him? Same as Telford and Garner both presumably on decent wages, it’s finding clubs who want them

Dust settled. Starting Gotts and Newby in what was undoubtedly going to be a real physical encounter was a big mistake. Playing a loan striker against a team lacking confidence after two comprehensive defeats yet another. Not making obvious changes at half-time to put the opposition on the back foot...definite pattern emerging. Reminiscent of Southgate in the summer, there's a decent starting eleven amongst that squad, the sooner Clemence susses it out the better it'll be for all of us.

Sounds daft but a lot of people only visit this town to watch the football and it's a place I'm very proud of. I don't like the idea of a few scruffs dragging us down because it's a great place and somewhere to be proud of. Get it up the opposition during the NG the game yes but there's the right audience and a wrong one. On a very positive note our lot have done us very proud today
