Absolutely. Defensively, we are O.K. Midfield we need another player a lot stronger than Gotts. I'd play Tiensia at left back (why he isn't playing somewhere is a mystery to me) and Jackson in midfield unless we get another midfielder. Up front, we are hopeless and unless we get a half-decent striker with some pace we won't score many goals. We had Garner, Telford and Dallas on together at the end and all are plodders plus Acquah looked slow and cumbersome today.

When Tiensia recovered from injury last season it was intimated that he didn’t show enough in training to warrant a start. I can only presume that is still the case.

Crap game as most 12.30 kick offs usually are. Sadly we were poor as we always are against Carlisle, keeper absolute crap for them last week and we barely tested him.
Neither team deserved to win really but if anyone of the two did it was them

I'm not Acquah biggest fan. However, he got zero service. Nobody was within 20 yards of him all game.

Why have we set up so negatively? 4-5-1 invited a load of pressure, bizarre. He keeps talking about a high press. I have yet to see it. Agree gotts looked lightweight in the two got to play campbell and spence together and get two forwards on the pitch. Kouyate looks a real threat, and as much as I like Newby, he deserves the jersey.

The fact we have recruited Dallas who looks 4th choice striker and kept the other 3 worries me, we are seriously lacking goals if I was the board I'd be selling Acquah and if someone like Matt Smith is available I'd be bringing him in. Think we might need another more imposing centre mid to give us an option of a different way of playing.

I know Newby is not a striker but would be interested to know when he last scored. Maybe Methuselah could tell us, if he’s old enough.
Seeing as you asked I thought I would look it up.
Elliot Newby was first at Barrow from 2015-17 He scored 1 goal for Barrow before being loaned to Altringham in 2016 where he scored 4 goals.
Between 2017-18 he played for Telford Utd where he scored 7 goals.
From 2018-21 he was at Chorley where he scored 12 goals.
In 2021 he signed for Stockport and scored 2 goals before bring loaned to Halifax where he scored no goals.
He was then loaned to Altringham in 2022 where he scored 4 goals.I
In 2033 he came to.us and in 43 appearances he hasn,t scored.
So as you can see by adding the total up in seven years he has scored 30 goals which is maybe 2 years worth of goal scoring for a player at this level.
He is like most of our players at the moment,a good mover of the ball but like the rest missing the final touch namely putting the ball in the back of the net.
The players out there that can do it on a regular basis are few and far between and command a big fee.The one player in our team who has the most promise is probably Kouyate.
Barrow at the moment do not have a natural.goal scorer so we will have to hope most of the players manage to chip in with a goal.
It,s either that or the club pays out some ridiculous fee it can ill afford and we know where that will lead us to.

And they’re unbeaten at home in the league this season!
Not just on about that .
The friendlies gave us a warning
We managed two magnificent wins against the might of HOB and FC united.
When we come up against a bigger team like Fylde could not hack it.
The forwards are hopeless.
I got irate when we signed Bob Ledger when last in the league two goals on his debut and that was it.
The team is a bloody disgrace
We did also manage two wins against Crewe and Port Vale since then. Give your head a shake. We’ve list an away league game. Didn’t want to. But it happens. Good grief. Listening to you, you’d think we’d lost ten in a row. Get yer self a reality check

Two big wins a scrapy goal against Crewe who showed how good they were getting stuffed at home by Chesterfield .
Then a win against a PV B made up of a team of juniors and reserves .

You need the reality check.
Watch next week and see if it was a blip .

Two wins out of three. Not the end of the world. Quite a good start to the season overall considering we’ve a new manager and a team that’s yet to gell

Never said it was a blip. I never expected us to win every game. I’m more realistic than you.

Poor game between 2 poor sides today, would have been 0 0 if it had not been for Vassell going down. Midfield looked not too bad before today but they did not step up for the the occasion.

As others have said most worrying part of today and so far this season is the lack of an out and out striker to put away chances swung into the box, which will come if Kouyate plays regularly. Hopefully maybe a loanee will come in before the Window closes to strengthen that position.

Thanks Methusalah a comprehensive answer. Confirms what I thought . 43 apperances and no goals. We let Ben Whitfield go who had an assist last week and had a goal and assist this week. Enough said.

Nearly 10,000 attendance, how many were from Barrow? Due to SKY expect it was less than could have been expected.

I know what you're saying Pedro and I agree. It's the manner in which we lost against a very poor Carlisle side.
Even if we had Garner or Telford playing off Aqua I still dont think it would have made any difference. None of those three's workrate is good enough.
Carlisle were poor but at least they had a bit of bite.
