Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
2 games in disappointing yes but let's see where we are after say 10 games in and if it's bottom half of the table questions should rightly be asked playing at home we should start more attack minded with 2 strikers on i feel agree Jackson and Smith not good players still feel theres a hangover from last season still can see it being 3 defeats after sat so pressures on Murray by next home game v Yeovil already unfortunately

Innes isolated or not won’t make a hapethJamesWattTerrace24 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 6:09 pm Innes too isolated, wingers not good enough. Link between midfield and attack non existent.
Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Murray said about the mindset of last year creeping in. He’s chose to play a striker who didn’t play here 2nd half of the season, Jackson who on last years form wouldn’t get in at vickerstown, smith and made MJ captain. He’s played 6 of his own players and a keeper. Very odd part of the interview I thought. Is it a total rebuild but blaming last years mindset isn’t going to help

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Just watched Murray’s interview.
Unimpressed.
Too many sound bites.
Too many excuses.
Too many attempted explanations.
Too much face scratching (becoming known in medical terms as “Whings Disease”) It really is a bad look.
I’d say, just get on it with it in your own way and say as little as possible to the media.
All this “fortress” stuff previously is just wind and p**s.
Very poor today for a team who’ve bigged themselves up to be something special.

I just hope we have not given him a long contract and suffer financially if we do boot him out!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 5:16 pm Well we are in our usual position in the relegation zone. I don't know much about Murray but have heard him on the radio once or twice. I thought he came across as a bit immature and a bit of a bullshitter especially when he said we had dominated Hartlepool from start to finish. We have a lot of previous regarding giving managers the push and l would say this guy is on thin ice already.

We cannot seriously be talking about discarding another manager. Unimpressive start but we have to persevere. Jackson and Smith on the other hands...send them to a burger van in a layby somewhere and just abandon them. Cut them loose.

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
Why would he have come for a short contract. Why would anyone else with ability want to come if he does leave? We were a basket case last season on the manager front.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 9:15 pmI just hope we have not given him a long contract and suffer financially if we do boot him out!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 5:16 pm Well we are in our usual position in the relegation zone. In terms of the game I don't get that some people think Scott Smith had a good game, I thought he was very poor. I remember him being sold as a 'box to box' midfielder when he arrived, he came from League 1 and he's now playing in National League and I'm still not seeing that in him or anyone else in the midfield.

Time for calm and to give the manager a chance we can't keep going through managers and paying them off it isnt sustainable yes it's disappointing and frustrating but give them a chance we have the players we have and that's it we have to make the best of it until we can ship 1 or 2 more out unless we get some loans in as we have a full squad really of 23 I think which seems about right

Recruitment is looking like it's been poor again and we can't blame Andy Wood this time. We look like what we are, lots of NLN and South players and league 2 failures

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
We are hamstrung due to still having players on the books Murray does not want. Listening to his after match interview on Radio Cumbria I sense a couple more who played last season and played today might be added to that list this weekOlderbarrowfan79+ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 9:39 pm Time for calm and to give the manager a chance we can't keep going through managers and paying them off it isnt sustainable yes it's disappointing and frustrating but give them a chance we have the players we have and that's it we have to make the best of it until we can ship 1 or 2 more out unless we get some loans in as we have a full squad really of 23 I think which seems about right
The problem is and Murray has alluded to this on more than one occasion recently he can’t do much business until there are some outgoings

I thought Amos did ok……..

……
if he had been playing on the field next door for Furness Rovers instead of Barrow, sadly he’s a full time paid Footballer

Wish I had gone to Holker Old Boys - at least they won 3-0 and are at the top of their table.
If there's ever a fixture clash in future, I'm off to Rakesmoor.

Re: Barrow v Hornchurch match thread
If I’m honest
I’ve had my doubts about Murray from when we first signed him something didn’t sit right with me when he came and his history at Kidderminster should of been a massive red flag
But he seemed to bring a lot of positivity to the club. and made much needed changes but you know the saying you can polish a turd but guess what it’s still a turd
I don’t want to see the players laughing and doing zip lines at Hawkshead I wanna see them playing football !!!
We need another attacking option Cameron isn’t the answer Danny rose sadly looks like he’s had the life sucked out of him and we have lost the one we were getting on loan to a efl team
The central defenders don’t connect and a mistake from Benjamin cost us the first goal today
This is gonna be a very long season if there isn’t changes cause at the moment we are no where near the grade

I don’t think anyone is advocating get rid of Murray at this stage, if you said assess where we are 10 games in that’s nearly a quarter of the season in and should give us an idea of where we’ll be. The signs though so far aren’t great and the club can’t blindly ignore them as they did last season at the start if things carry on. Yes we’re lumbered with some players who ideally we’d move on to free up money but, by Murray’s own admission it’s a healthy competitive budget that we have. He has brought a lot of his own players in and they’ll need time but, one concern at the time was both Murray’s own lack of credentials at this level and that of a lot of his signings. No one really stood out when we signed them, a mix of lower non league players and added to a handful of players who took us down last season and in the likes of Smith and Cameron, most said they’d be worried if either of those were any where near our squad in the summer let alone starting. The fact we’re persevering with Kouyate again who couldn’t get a kick at National north level just shows where we are. Nowhere near good enough I’m afraid.
Yes we might’ve nicked a draw today and should’ve gone in 1 up although they had a great chance and one disallowed, and last week Cameron has to score which makes it 1-1 and a different game. However we didn’t and have barely tested the keepers in either match. Our goal was a soft at best penalty.
Murray said himself we need strengthening upfront and it’s there for all to see even in pre season. What I didn’t see coming was the lack of grit and aggression, conceding soft goals again and being far too nice and easy. Those are the basics and I’m not sure I get where Murray is coming from with it carrying over from last season. Yes some players are the same but a lot aren’t and it’s his eleven. He needs time but we need to see signs of improvement soon or we’re going to be in a position like last year and risk doing a Morecambe or a Scunthorpe. Which can happen if we’re not careful.

We were awful. It's no good pointing the finger at individuals the whole team is just not good enough. It's going to be another long season of totally crap football.
I have bought my season ticket but I don't know whether to turn up and use it to watch such bad football for the 3rd season in a row
