I love it how Lincoln people are disgusted and shocked that we have made a bid - who do they think they are?

These ex-league clubs think they are better than they actually are.

What a Patronizing report that is, just how far beneath them does he think we are?

As others have commented I'd much rather we were looking at someone with pace who can play off Cooky rather than a carbon-copy. However havingsaid that I cannot for the life of me see what this bloke and other Lincoln fans are getting their knickers in a twist about. Thew window will be chock full of 'audacious' bids from the Premiership down most of them rejected. They make it sound as if Cox is camped outside their training ground tapping up players as they leave. As far as I know Hearn was the only other one enquired about and at the time he seemed desparate to leave.

Unprofessional comment by Pakey if you ask me. How old is he? 12?

Five figure fee can equate to any amount from ten grand upwards. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things?

Needs to be 6 figure to stand even a chance. Like their manager says, the offer would only buy his left leg. Forget his age, he has scored a lot of goals and looks like scoring more, would we sell Cook for any less than 6 figures right now?

Lincoln are not exactly flush and after the Hearn loan fiasco, it does sound like we are trying to take advantage of them. Rhead is among the divisions top scorers having scored more than Cook and I read somewhere he is under contract for next season as well (that bit needs confirming), so you've got to offer serious money. Take Rhead out of Lincoln and their season could go sour just as Cook leaving us could get us relegated, they certainly won't let him go for peanuts.

If the offer is anything like the 5 figures we got for Walker then it is a joke. Luton got Walker off for a derisory amount but we were desperate and couldn't stand in Walker's way, he was temped by a big club looking likely to get promoted to the league. They took advantage of us and the player wanted the move at the time.

From an outside perspective Barrow doesn't look anything like a big club, or like it is trying to go anywhere, they need to read the NWEM  We've had some poor signings and we are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone, and the ground appears no different despite what's been said about it. We look like a club just making up the numbers, hence the awful article poking fun at Barrow's offer by John Pakey (Lincoln fan/alleged journalist).

I wonder if Cox wants to sign Rhead now and Hearn in the summer when he is out of contract? I would expect a second offer from Barrow if we are really serious about Rhead.

Precisely, and that was the case on this occasion.

I reckon he was wanted more for short term safety(relegation battle?) then beyond next season?

Lincoln aren't going anywhere .. they have lost 6 of the last 10 and drawn the other 4 they are out of the trophy ( I know maybe we will be by later tonight)

They are 9 points ahead of us and have played 2 more games than us -

Really amateurish commentary piece there - it looks like Cox was just testing the water and seeing if he was anywhere close. It looks like the bid was made last week and it's taken until now for Lincoln to decide, so hardly dismissed out of hand.

Agree testing the water initially, maybe even just to unsettle a little and then a potential summer raid!

Rhead is a good player, if you were Lincoln u'd turn down that offer. He is Lincoln's main hope up top for any chance of playoffs ! I'd be surprised if a club the level of Barrows ( at this moment in time!) came in and try and took a good striker from a bigger club in this case Lincoln . Barrow will have a better squad than Lincoln at the start of next season in my opinion , but for now we are a club in transition . Reminds me of Andy Carroll , good striker , but let's not break the bank for him ! I'd prefer Hearn anyways! As for that Lincoln guy , he is right too be a little surprised but his article is rather childish , and disrespectful , Barrow might not be title challengers but Lincoln are no Giants in this league. Look forward too Pakeys article at the end of the season when we swoop for both Rhead and Hearn !

Good shout , spoke with him a little with other Barrow fans earlier in the season. Seems like a nice lad, just wanted too get back fit and play football ! I don't know on what terms he left Barrow but he is a good player and i would snap him up !
